Orange Tree Samples CoreBass Pear Acoustic Bass library for Kontakt

12

Hey what’s good fam, back with another one for ya!

I’ve heard about Orange Tree for a while, just now getting a chance to check our their samples.

They make “real” instrument libraries for Kontakt. ย So they focus on stuff like bass, guitars, and even some world instruments.

Their prices are really reasonable so I wanted to check them out as an alternative to the higher priced libraries dedicated to similar instruments.

Today I’m checking out CoreBass Pear, which is an acoustic bass libary

let’s peep it!

What is CoreBass Pear?

Uhhhhh…..an acoustic bass library ๐Ÿ™‚

Seriously, it’s a dedicated acoustic bass library for Kontakt with a focus on playability as opposed to a bunch of keyswitching

The idea behind the CoreBass (and other Orange Tree libraries)

is to allow you to get a very realistic and great sounding performance without having to enter a bunch of dynamics and keyswitches.

They do some secret samurai magic so that the scriptย interpretsย your midi playing and plays the proper notes/samples…

don’t ask me how…but I dig it

Quick Specs

  • content: 300MB 24bit samples
  • format: Kontakt 4 or higher (full version, doesn’t work with Kontakt player)
  • price: $64.95

How does it sound?

I love it! I am also picky with bass sounds, and acoustic bass is a really picky one for me.

I love the round, punchy sound you can get with this one…yet it still has the ambiance and natural feel of an acoustic.

That smooth deep sound you would expect from an acoustic bass is definitely captured properly

This library easily stands up against the more expensive dedicated bass libraries.

With it’s sound and size, I find myself pulling this up on a regular when I want a nice acoustic bass…

the simple controls make it easy to apply subtle changes to get the exact sound you want

What’s the bottom line?

If you want a great sounding, fast loading, easily playable acoustic bass in your library…really, you can’t overlook this one

I give it 4.5 out of 5 subs, I’m really loving the sound and playability of it.

I enjoy not having to worry about any keyswitches or deep midi programming, I can just play it and have fun doing so

I see why so many kept mentioning these libraries, it’s easy for them to get overshadowed in the age of multi GB libraries and instruments but trust me when I say that would be a huge mistake

Not to sound cliche but sometimes less is more…not saying these libraries have less going on than others, but most of it is done under the hood so it’s all out of the way.

You just load these up and play, making small tweaks with the simple interface.

Bottom line is I love this library and I’m looking forward to checking out some of the other stuff over there

    • @boppinBlu, yeah this thing is nice, the MachFive 3 upright is nice too…but there’s a vast difference in price, you can’t buy the MachFive 3 upgright by itself either, you have to buy the whole product ๐Ÿ™‚

This is cool because it’s specific/dedicated to just one instrument.

  2. Nice product. However, I hear like a scratchy noise in my right speaker (headphone) when notes are being played, doesn’t sound like it’s part of the instrument.

  3. That actually sounds really good. That noise in the right speaker is not the instrument I think it’s just artifacts in the feed you put up on you tube. That is a nice Stand Up instrument for sure!
