Yeah…so…maybe they listened to my subliminal messages in my maschine review lol hahahaha!

NI just posted on twitter, facebook, etc…

It’s coming early 2011…now what?

Game = over….period

think about what this means?

all your stuff in one production environment with a workflow that is unmatched ย imo…

check this post from the NI Forums: http://native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=122599

Hi all,

I can finally break the news to you about the biggest feature that will come to Maschine in the next free update – which is plugin hosting!

So, according to popular demand, the upcoming 1.6 version will allow you to use VST and AU plugins as sound sources and effects in your Maschine project. This includes both the whole NI range of instruments and effects as well as any third-party plugin.

Check the screenshot for an idea of how this will look like. Instrument plugins can be used in any sound channel, and effect plugins can be inserted on both the sound and group channels as well as on the master.

Obviously the addition of plugin hosting requires quite a bit of development and testing. Regarding the timing of the release – version 1.6 is about to go into internal beta testing this month, and we are currently planning to make it available to you through a public beta test in January, with the final release probably coming up around two months later. As always, these are projected dates that can still change a bit.

Plugin hosting is the most prominent feature addition in 1.6, but there will be quite some more useful things being added with that update. Look forward to the coming weeks when we will post more details about Maschine 1.6!

Regards, Thomas

  1. LOL…I was just doing a google search less than 10 minutes ago on using VST with maschine and then I get you email on my blackberry. I’m currently using BPM and like it but not being able to use other VSTs is too limiting for me even though I have several UVI libraries. Been thinking about switching to Maschine the last few days and I guess I have my answer…You are soooooooo right. Game=Over (unless MOTU comes out with 2.0 and shocks the world…doubt it but you never know).

Thanks for share…looks like my search over…

    • @UrbanMultiTracks.com, lol yeah man AND it’s a free update, BPM users were very upset they had to pay for their recent update which included midi mapping, a new vintage drum library, etc…

Maschine users get this super injection for free! Say whaaaaaaaaaaat!

  2. BTW – Can you record automation in Machine (standalone mode)? I’d like to be able to record volume changes, pans, tempo changes, expression etc.. as midi data in different section of a given song. I’m talking about with instruments and not just with step sequencer graphs.

    • @UrbanMultiTracks.com, There looks to be some automation possibilities. In the picture posted on the NI forum the Massive sound tab on the Maschine sequencer has macro knobs which on which automation can be recorded. Assuming that VST macro knobs have the same functionality as the current sound macro knobs.

      • @tladb, well there’s already automation in Maschine, I just rarely use it lol. Because the automation record button doesn’t lock, so you have to hold it down and turn knobs with the other hand lol.

  3. Just got your email! Ok! This solidifies my reason to get Maschine before this Christmas! Yeah, with this & a possible time stretch update, game is pretty much over!

  4. This is huge! I can’t tell you how exicted I was to see your email this morning. I can’t wait to use Massive or Z3ta+ inside Maschine. All we need now is midi import and we’re set.

  5. there is automation in stand alone but there is no tempo changes. you can however automate just about everything else.
@strong productions. even if you use pro tools (or any DAW) this is still huge (especially for logic users who currently have no way to control their au from maschine in logic)
think of the resampling and stacking abilities, along with the vst fx inside of maschine means you don’t need as many outputs… there are alot of reasons this will help you.
and that GRV button looks nice ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. This is GREAT news St.Joe! NI just keeps pushing the envelope. The last update was a beast (and free:) This update is another beast. The Maschine is rapidly becoming a Nightmare-Good Night!

  8. Its nice to see this announcement after all the speculation and “insider info” going on. Sad no timestretch or enhancements to tempo mapping but vst support out weights both as there are work arounds for those to things

  9. Actually u can use the mod with maschine… nit saying I would want to as it wouldn’t give u anywhere near the depth as the maschine controller does. But u could use it in a few ways. Maschine does accept external MIDI control.

      • @saintjoe, oh don’t get it twisted… that doesn’t make much sense I’m just saying.g it can be done. How I know it I sometimes use korg nanopad with it when I’m laying in bed or in my car. Though what homie is saying wouldn’t have me suprised if he is thinking he’s gonna pirate it. In which case u should know that’s there are certain features that u really need the controller for and it wont be nearly as fun to use… so don’t be a douche people. When someone works hard to make something like maschine support them with your doe.

  10. Ah, this is awesome! It’s a good day. I was hoping the day would come. I’ll be picking up Komplete for Christmas and a new desktop and I’ll be all set.

    • @Tris Browne, I hear ya lol, it’s not coming in 1.6 they already said in their “on the record” sessions over at the NI forums that they are waiting on that to get it just right. They were talking about some realtime stuff as well as an offline processing option so I imagine it will take a bit of time to get it nice, once it’s there…yeah lol

      I feel you though ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. I would also keep in mind that timestretching can be achieved with vst support using kontakt and many other plugs… I want dedicated timestrech as much as the next person but vst is a bit higher on my list due to the amount of versatility this adds.

  12. whats up I just read this article some guy saying is maschine becoming a DAW by adding vst hosting me personally I dont think so I think this is going to kill the mpc market maschine now sequence all your vst within itself and sequence hardware now they need to upgrade the controller to give you at least one or two more midi outputs

    Reply
    • @Mehdo, nah Maschine is not a DAW, it’s totally different, that’s like saying the MPC is a daw or the roland fantom, MV or whatever, because they have audio tracks.

It’s about having the flexibility to work in a different way, Maschine is a production tool, it may get daw like features, but it’s not a traditional daw, that’s where it’s popularity comes from.

  13. Nah man why would the controller need more MIDI ports when u have in and out only the back PLUS you can use the MIDI in outs of your interface or even buy a dedicated MIDI in out interface….

    • @Zo,

automation drawing could be improved, I agree

16 levels for the midi controller itself has been highly requested

more outputs will be here in the next update for sure.

There are things I like about both BPM and Maschine and things I would like to see from one into the other, but at the end of the day, for me, Maschine is more complete, especially when it comes to sampling, sampling with BPM is very clunky.

But the FX in BPM are KILLER, the layering is KILLER/simple, I also love the pad/grid editing features. I don’t use either in a host so that wasn’t a point of comparison for me.

I don’t like the step sequencer for the pad banks in BPM, I wish everything was piano roll like the racks OR at least wish they gave us a choice.

I also dig the sound engine in BPM very much.

Also, the fact that Maschine is still coming with free updates makes me very happy ๐Ÿ™‚

I think they are both good products and one may fit better than the other depending on what you do. For me, Maschine is my main tool, I don’t compose in a daw, and that’s how I approached BPM, I quickly found myself frustrated with many things while in love with others…so I have both ๐Ÿ˜‰

  14. Thks Joe ๐Ÿ˜‰

In fact i’m not a sampler guy …..so the sampler isn’t a big deal for me but 16lvls and automation is ๐Ÿ˜‰
I also seems that templates aren’t store in hardware so now i understand the 16lvls mess : no ROM based memory to store micro programm or some …

I succed to make the transport work for sonar via the powerfull sona act midi controller tool …but always in maschine mode to make play work (making play in maschine ) i think it’s not a bug but the way it’s done as the rec works ..

Don’t you thind the way metronome is implemented kinda weird …it’s working randomly here ..is it my unit or some kinda weird for all …

under than that it’s agreat piece of gear that’ i’m gonna keep ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Reply
    • @Zo, yep, if you don’t care about sampling features then BPM makes a very great workstation in my opinion, I like it in that aspect.

      metronome is pretty easy though?

you can either turn it on when recording, or off, press shift+play to have it on when playing, or off.

if you want to record with it on, and use a count in, press shift+record
