Loopmasters Real Strings Vol 4 review

53

Hey what’s good fam, back at you with another sample library review

Today I’m checking out a string library from Loopmasters and Organic Loops called Real Strings Vol 4: Hip Hop

Let’s check it out!

So what is Real Strings Vol 4?

hiphopstrings4_bigIt’s the 4 library in a series of authentic string score libraries in various styles.

As you can see, this volume is dedicated to Hip Hop and Urban music.

The series is recorded by Pete Whitfield in his own studio where he records strings for various professional artists, major lables, tv, and media companies.

The idea is to bring high quality authentic sounding string recordings into the hands of musicians of all types and styles.

These are real, live played string samples and performances ready to load into your favorite host or sampler.

They even include the full scores and MIDI info.

Quick Specs

  • content: 249 full loops, 72 phrase loops, 716MB
  • format: Rex, WAV, MIDI, Sibelius
  • price: $47.86

How do they sound?

Reel to Reel Tape RecorderThese strings sound amazing, totally real and authentic. There isn’t too much space or reverb around them but they aren’t completely dry either.

You can tell they were recorded in a great sounding space.

The style of the loops and how they are organized really gives you some flexibility. You get the full loop, then the different parts of the loop like the low strings, high strings, etc.

They are labeled by tempo as well as key for quick access.

The most important part though, is how they sound, and I really love the sound of these loops and phrases.

They are long enough with plenty of variety to be useful in many situations. And they actual melodies/patterns played are actually quick useful and inspiring.

They aren’t just a bunch of simple, run of the mill phrases, there is some really good use of style and movement that shows the ability of the composer/conductor as well as the players themselves.

So what’s the bottom line?

Can I have some more please? Seriously, they sound good and they immediately got me excited to checkout the previous volumes.

4andhalfsubsI give Real Strings 4 a rating of 4.5 out of 5 subs, they are well recorded, well organized, and most importantly they are usefully inspiring.

I would have liked to see a little more in the phrase category but there’s quite a bit there to work with as is.

The only thing that I feel would have taken this to the next level is if they included some multi-sample patches in Kontakt, EXS, and Live formats.

The strings sound that good that I thought of all the melodies I could play with a nice section instrument.

Either way, check out their demos on the site: http://www.loopmasters.com/product/details/1542

Great product and love your beats, I actually think your beats are getting better and better too, though they were always good. Thanks again for the review!

  5. Sounds really nice. I have EAST WEST symphony sounds and there just as authentic. But no loops. Which is ok cause i am sorta old school lol. I have always created my own string sounds. but what is that pad your playing on? And what recording software are you running that allows you to control it with the pad. I SOOO want one now lol.

  6. yeah I would like to have an instrument based off of these sounds, instead of only the loops. But I like to show different stuff too. I’m using NI Maschine, love it!

    • Thanks for watching Pete! This thing sounds great, I’m looking forward to checking out some of the others as well as any you have planned for the future. Great sounding instruments. Would be cool to have a few multi sampled patches based on your recordings.
