Hey what’s good fam!
Just got a quick update, a while back I did a video on Aria Sounds taking suggestions for their London Symphonic Strings library
Well, they’ve released the first part in the collection, First Violins
So I did a quick video showing the interface and running through the sounds.
Quick Specs
- content: 4.8GB
- format: Kontakt 4, Kontakt 5
- price: £29.99/$45.54 (reg price £49.99/$75.89)
It’s available right now on their website, with more to come, including updates to this library which will allow you to turn off legato as well as assign expression to any MIDI cc you wish.
Go check it out: http://ariasounds.com/symphonic_strings_kontakt_orchestral_violin_1.html
SJ: The London Symphonic Strings have a beautiful sound. From your video, this is a “must buy” for fans like me of this genre. The price is affordable too.
Thanks for watching man, they have more coming also.
Nice violins, gonna grab these soon! I see you have an 88 key MIDI controller, looks cool, what make is it?
Thanks for checking. It’s the Roland FA-08
Great keyboard! My shelf won’t fit an 88, I’ve just been looking at the Korg Krome 73, which might be just what I’m looking for (my old Edirol MIDI keyboard has lost it’s top note, I was told it’s not worth fixing) – I’m having a hardware spring LOL
Yeah it’s cool, not sure if I will keep it or not yet, a few things I don’t dig, like the mod/pitch wheel setup, the writing on it is hard to read as it’s silver/grey instead of white. And the keyboard feels good but a little heavy, so not sure yet…may end up with something else, considering the moxf line right now.
I get were you’re coming from man! Korg Krome looking very nice for a person
like me, lots of really useful sounds straight off the bat – I’m interested because I’m really not a scientist who wants all the least features – to me thats just another learning curve. This here joint seems to be pitched to my needs? The Krome basic piano and Rhodes are some of the best I’ve heard. Not heavy, so I’m thinking this or a really nice MIDI keyboard? Def great to have a proper keyboard that you can use with no PC!!!
Yeah, I don’t need a bunch of features, for me it comes down to the sound and workflow. There’s a lot I like about the Roland, but some of the small things are bugging me lol. I mainly use acoustic sounds so that has me considering the Yamaha Motif range…which is known to have great acoustic tones. I don’t know…I have a little more time left before I can’t return it, will see how I feel by the end of the week lol.
I’ve heard great things about the Motif, it’s just a little bit out of my price bracket LOL,
I’m gonna save up for the Krome, which is just about doable later in the year
Motif sounds great though

I’m looking at the moxf range, which is in the same budget as the krome/fa boards, not the 2k+ range LOL
Dreams are free LOL
Indeed they are sir LOL
Here is an interesting comparison of moXF and Krome man

Yeah…I’ve watched tons of those LOL
Hmm, there’s some great kit about these days!
For sure bro!
This sounds pretty good. The problem is that I have a habit of spending a lot of money on small libraries that are more affordable, and then I can never save up for the libraries that I really want, like the Albion serious by Spitfire or the Cage series by 8Dio. This looks great, and I am definitely tempted to get it, but I should probably save my money 🙂 Thanks for your update though! Aria seems to be increasing their quality as time goes by.
Hahahaha indeed that’s always the struggle man 🙂
Good quality recordings although once again it is a shame not to have the experience to be there actually playing the orchestral pieces. Once I performed in a large orchestra playing Beethoven and as we all played in a large cathedral you could feel spirits in the room. .Something that is incredible to feel if you have ever performed in a real orchestra.
Everyone doesn’t play in an orchestra, yet still want access to these types of sounds, thankfully there are libraries like this available.
I really hope St Joe goes to see some real orchestras play and report what he heard and how he felt after seeing them perform. and in turn write about it in these forums.
I’ve heard real orchestras play before, love the sound of live strings.
