Checking out G Suite from Big Fish Audio

16

I know it’s been a few days, holidays got me busy!

But we back to start the new year off right with a brand new Big Fish Friday!

Today we are checking out a new hip hop/rnb sample collection they sent over called G Suite

What is G Suite?

Well, it’s a collection of up to day hip hop, rnb and urban pop style construction kits.

The focus is on modern, radio ready sounds and production.

A nice lil tidbit,

one of the producers that worked on this track, Terry, is a regular reader of SoundsAndGear.com!

I thought that was pretty cool.

Quick Specs:

  • Content: 40 construction kits, 2.3 gb of 24bit wave files, duplicated in other formats
  • Format: apple loops, rex, wave, rmx, and acid
  • Price: $99

How does it sound? How’s the production?

I have yet to come across a library from Big Fish that didn’t have quality production and this is no exception.

The construction kits are very well produced and the recorded quality of the files is pristine.

No clicks, pops, or any other unwanted glitches are here.

The production style itself is very refreshing, not limited to one type of urban music, you get everything from west coast, to east coast, to radio ready pop bangers.

There is enough content for me to file them into folders of instrument type instead of using them in construction kit format, this is important for me as it allows me to be more creative and not forced into a particular sound by simply using what’s in the same kit together.

There were some nice touches in the synths, like sounds panned to both sides of the stereo field.

What’s the overall score on this collection?

Overall this is a very solid release, plenty of sounds and styles for any urban producer to use and abuse.

I give it a 4.5 out of 5 subs.

I would like to see more from these producers as they definitely know how to capture the “now” sound.

I would have liked to see some more keys in the collection, and maybe some more “regular” acoustic sounding drums, but there isn’t really much else I would change.

The loops are long enough that you can do some pretty extensive chopping of them as well.

So go on and check it out: big fish audio G Suite

matter of fact, they have a free sample pack you can download from this collection.

You can get that here: G Suite free sample kit

Great collection and I’m definitely looking forward to more Big Fish releases from this production duo.

let me know what you think

  2. What Up SaintJoe;
I like ya review of the new G-Suite sample CD, I picked it up as soon as it hit the website, I’ve had it for about 4 or 5 days. I was also inpressed by the new production team. I like alot of the flava they used as far as instrumentation, and the drums were cool, they didn’t knock me out, but then again I dont buy sample cd’s for the drums, most of them all sound the same.

I did hear a guitar sample in one of the construction kits that is from another sample library, can’t remember which one off hand. I think bigfishaudio may let producers use existing content.

Overall This was worth the $100. Alot of nice tidbits and tasty morsels in this one. Now i’m just waiting for “Off the Hook Dirty South 2”.

    Peace

    • No doubt Groove! Thanks for the comment. I also got that platinum essentials 3 sent over in the same package, so I’ll be reviewing that as well.

I have off the hook 3 but not the off the hook style series, not yet, I want to check out the east and west coast for sure.

Yes, I like to hear new production teams, they have a different flavor. I agree on the drums, they are usable but I have specialized drum companies that I look to for the drum foundation so it’s all good.

The instrumentation is on point, def looking forward to more from these guys.

    • Hahahaha, thanks yo! Glad to help, I’m just trying to build up a library so when you’re looking for something, you can see what it’s like.

I don’t expect folks to buy everything I review, I do up to 5 a week! It’s just a resource so you can get some info when you are ready to get something.

      thanks for the comment!
