Fat analogue synth instruments from prime loops

20

I know it’s weird, but….primeloops, a sample loop provider, has created a nice collection of fat analog synth samples.

Not loops, multisamples that you can load up in your favorite sampler to create your own crazy synth lines and riffs.

They sent these over for review before the holiday…but uhhh, yeah lol, the holiday got the best of me!

let’s check em out.

Analogue Synthesis….Just another sample collection?

In this digital music age, there always seems to be a desire to get things to sound “more analog”.

There is something about the analog synths and machines that people love, and constantly try to recreate in the digital world.

And while there are some very good instruments that can get “that feel” there’s really nothing like a good collection of well sampled analog funk!

peep what they say on the site:

If you are looking for the definitive collection of phat & classic Analogue Synth Samples – here it is. Analogue Synthesis is a world-class selection of the finest Analogue Synth Sounds around.

With the rise of VST, and mediocre softsynth emulations of analogue sounds, many tracks are found to be lacking the full-bodied warmth that analogue synthesizers give. Those seeking a more authentic feel to their tracks will notice the difference when applying this collection to the mix.

Quick Specs:

  • Content: 50+ analog synth multi samples
  • Format: kontakt, exs, reason, sonar, hailion, sfz, wav
  • Price: $18.76

So do that got that analog fatness you crave? How do they sound?

The recording of these samples is very high quality, and the notes are sustained long enough for most playing styles.

I’ve come across some pretty low budget libraries before, where the “multi sample” consists of one note spread across the keys.

Sometimes that works, and sometimes it just sound cheap.  These samples feel like real instruments and capture the character of the synths very well.

For those of use not fortunate enough to have access to some of these classic synth monsters, thank God for samplers!

The sounds are thick, milky, piercing….deep, whatever you need. The basses thump and the pads float…the leads cut through your ear like a hot knife through a stick of butter.

Everything you’d expect in regards to quality recording and variety of sounds.

So what is the bottom line? Is this a quality product?

This is a great product, and instant collection of useful synth sounds with tons of character. The patches aren’t huge so loading them doesn’t take up much memory, they aren’t loaded with fx so it doesn’t tax your cpu either.

I give these a 4 out of 5, great collection and the price is insane.

I would have liked to see some Kontakt scripting to allow for instant mod wheel functions or pitch wheel tweaking, of course you can set this up in your own sampler pretty easy, but it’s always nice to have it that way “out of the box” it feels more like an instrument and less like a set of samples.

All around great product, easy on the pockets, and big on fat synth lovin!

Go check it out, I think they have some demo sounds or something you can checkout too

  1. I own this sample set, and think that it has some really good sounds. I haven’t worked them into any songs yet, having a ton of vst’s and samples already to mess around with, but I have been getting into using multisampled instruments more lately, so I’m sure it’s just a matter of time.

    • thanks for checkin it!

it’s not a plugin though, you need a sampler to use it. If you can use kontakt, hailion, reason, exs or even the free sfz player for soundfonts, you can use this.

it has regular wave files too if you want to use those to make your own patches

  2. It would appear most of their packs are inexpensive….
I might have to shop over there.
But Joe, if Im rocking a mpc 2500 and they offer formats in “Akia MPC” and “.WAV” which one should I cop to the 2500 , of course, those seem to be the same thing.

    • they are dope all around, get their xxl hip hop drums if you havent

if you can get it in mpc format go for it, it will most likely be wave files with a pgm file to go with it.

they have very good prices on their stuff

      • Im not a huge fan of construction kits though as they all just build up to the song loop they have already made. I can see where you could chop them and what not and I know some cats are big fans of them, I just never found them to be that exciting.

        • yep, that’s why any time I get construction kits, I remove them from kits and put them in folders according to sound

          bass, keys, strings, synths, etc

but primeloops has a lot more than construction kits, actually most of their stuff is loops of specific sounds. Their xxl drums are just one shot drums and it’s a must have

their stuff like planet orchestra and other instrument loops are crazy

  3. I really like the sounds and will probably buy them since the price is reasonable. Will probably use the sounds in logic, but I was just wondering if I could use these sounds with the Beat Thang Virtual.
