Big Fish Licia Keyz sample library review

33

Yooooooooooooooooooooo

What’s good fam, been a crazy week for me but I def wanted to drop ya some Big Fish for the weekend!

Today I’m checking out one of their download packs called Licia Keyz, it’s got 10 kits in it all focused around keys and piano mainly

So let’s see!

What is Licia Keyz?

It’s a construction loop library inspired by the works of the great Alicia Keys.

At first I thought it was going to be a bunch of pianos…

which would be dope, but it’s construction kits so you also got drums, synths, guitars, bass, etc.

The aim of these are RnB, Soul and Hip Hop/Urban music.

Quick Specs:

  • content: 836MB
  • format:Wav, Rex
  • price: $29.95

How does it sound?

It’s definitely got some nice key and piano riffs in here and the recording is great quality.

The loops are long so there is plenty in here to chop up and mess with

It’s not a huge library but covers the bases pretty well considering there are only 10 kits here.

Wish there were some more snares to chop up seems to be heavy on the claps but that’s cool guess it fits the RnB/Soul style of the library.

Some of the loops lean a bit towards the Pop side of things, which it seems everything does these days but there’s plenty of that smooth keyboard work in here to keep ya happy

So what’s the bottom line?

You know me fam, when it comes to construction kits I just treat them as collections of loops.

Not really a construction kit fan but sound is sound so I treat it as such. In that regard this is a nice little collection of sounds, especially the piano, rhodes, and guitar samples.

There’s enough variety to keep it useful while it stays true to that urban/soul sound.

I give this library 4 out of 5 subs, very solid and useful library without having to break the bank

  1. I brought this kit about 2 months ago. This construction kit is produced by Big Citi Loops. They make some really good kits. You can pick this one up at producerloops.com for $19.95. Good review as always. Keep up the good work….

  2. Definitely sounds good…would’ve been nice if the instruments were more broken down into folders so I could just take a sound I like and run’em across my midi pad, don’t wanna have to chop it all up.Gotta admit, I did’nt expect it to sound as lush as it did though. Great demo as usual St.Joe…keep it goin brah

    • @Klford, yeah, being loops you always gonna have to chop, what I usually do is separate everything into my own folders by sound, so all bass, keys, strings, synth, etc. That way it’s easier to find what I want to chop.

Man I like the guitar lick you were missing with that joint was pretty fresh sounding. I’m a get this kit if just for that one guitar loop. I love put a guitar lick in my tracks but i don’t play guitar, I can’t always afford a work for hire and a keyboard with a patch guitar sound doesn’t always cut it. So i’m always looking for fresh guitar loops.

  4. Man, I keep buying small stuff like this – love rummaging through these and seeing what I can come up with. Great practice material for Maschine…

    …but…

…I gotta stop buying em for a while! lol. I really want Omnisphere to compliment Komplete 7 so this will have to be bookmarked for later ๐Ÿ™‚ Before you know it you’ve spend a few hundred bucks on stuff like this so I gotta be disciplined lol

    • @Jon, yep, lil libraries like these can def contain a few gems here and there, I feel if I can find one to 4 things I can build a song off of I’m good. Plus I can always chop up the drums for new kits.
