Review of Chillwave Guitars from Sample Magic

So I’m back with a sample library from Sample Magic, and of course, I chose to show a chillout style library.

What can I say? I think they make some awesome chillout and downtempo samples.

This one is specifically focused on guitars though

so let’s check it!

What is Chillwave Guitars?

This is a collection of smooth, effected, laid-back style guitar riffs and licks.

However, don’t think it’s “just” chilled out, there are some nice distorted riffs in there as well.

The main concept is to provide you with a nice collection of useful, and high quality guitar sounds.

There are a few different styles of playing, but the tempos remain at either 100 or 90 bpm.

They do have the tempo and key labeled directly in the filename, so that makes it quick to get in and grab what you need.

How does it sound?

First off, this is just a great collection of guitars, so don’t think it would only work for chillout or downtempo music

They even give you a folder of the riffs without effects so you can use them as is, or add you own

Now the ones with the effects on them, they sound really cool. Nice reverbs and delays give them an open and airy sound.

There are also some raw distorted sounding riffs in here as well, but not too harsh, just enough to give a slight edge.

As usual everything is well recorded and captured, and the playing is on point

So what’s the bottom line?

If you’re looking for a nice collection of guitars and want to step away from the funk or rnb style of things, check this out.

I give Chillwave Guitars 4 out of 5 subs, they are well recorded, deliver a lot of variety, and just plain sound good.

As I said, I’m a fan of chillout samples in general, I love slow tempo, ambient sounding music, so anytime I come across some samples that claim to deliver this, I MUST check it out
