Hey what’s good fam, it’s Friday, so time for some Big Fish Audio.
Today I’m checking out Funk Soul Horns 2, a collection of horn section and single horn licks and riffs.
Let’s just jump into it!
So what is Funk Soul Horns 2?
It is a collection of professionally played horn section and solo horn licks and riffs inside of a custom interface.
You have control over the sections, and since it’s in the KLI interface it can take advantage of automatic time stretching inside of Kontakt.
Of course you can also play with various fx, or even use the sliced patches to alter each individual slice in the riffs.
There are no drums, no bass, or anything else, just a huge collection of authentic horn riffs and licks.
Quick Specs
- content: 4.2GB, 2916 Kontakt patches
- format: WAV, Apple, KLI (Kontakt 5), REX, RMX, Acid
- price: $97.46 (reg price $129.95)

How does it sound?
They captured not only authentic sounding performances, but the sections themselves have a very authentic sound in relation to the style they were going for.
Each section is set up how it would traditionally be setup for the specific style of music. Memphis Soul, Detroit Soul, Soul Jazz, Philly Soul, etc, all have their distinct section pieces to make it sound realistic.
You can also adjust the mix of the individual pieces in the section, and the licks automatically sync to your host tempo.
In addition to that you can also quickly tweak the sounds of the performances by adding various fx and even playing with individual slices.
Overall it has a really good sound that definitely captures the vibe of vintage horn section performances.
So what’s the bottom line?
If you’re looking for authentic vintage horn section and solo horn performances then I definitely suggest checking this out.
I give Funk Soul Horns 2 a solid 4 out of 5 subs, there’s plenty of content to work with in various styles, which all capture the groove and feel of the vintage sections they represent.
Using the KLI version definitely makes things more flexible with the tempo sync, fx, and sliced patches, but even the audio versions sound great and make good content to use as is, or slice up and replay in your own way.
If you’re looking for playable keyboard multi samples this isn’t the library for you, but if you’re looking for actual vintage style performances, you’ll definitely want to check this out.
