It’s Friday…Big Fish Friday.
Today I am reviewing another library from Big Fish and eQuipped Music.
Yes, eQuipped, the same ones that made smoker’s delight, smoker’s relight and breakbeat jazz…all high quality libraries.
Premier Beats and Hip Hop Instrumentals is another entry into the realm of laid back, turntable, breaks and bits based music.
let’s check it out!
What is Premier Beats and Hip Hop Instrumentals?
It’s a great big dose of raw and rugged hip hop sounds, complete with the vinyl dirt present.
It’s two dvds full of mpc style breaks, chords, instrumentals, drums, fx, and other sounds.
It has that feel of taking hits and stabs from various records or other musical pieces, performing audio heart transplants….
and creating something totally new from the gumbo of sounds you’ve gathered.
In the eQuipped style, everything is raw, authentic, high quality, and inspiring.
From smooth ep chords to bouncin bass and random stabs….
enough to satisfy even the most dedicated crate digger.
Quick Specs
- Content: 2 dvds 8gb total (multiple formats)
- Format: apple loops, rex, refill, wav
- Price: $199 for the physical dvd package, you can also get it in 3 download volumes for $49.99 each
How does it sound?
Really, you shouldn’t have to wonder about this. eQuipped Music ALWAYS brings the heat!
How they manage to keep things raw, grimy, and dirty yet pristine in quality is beyond me, but they do it.
You get small bits and pieces, chords and riffs as one-shot samples to throw into your favorite sampler and just go to work.
They also have these same chords and riffs constructed into full loops, if you prefer the sound and randomness you get from chopping samples.
As if that isn’t enough, they also have these “instrumental loops” which are the chord and riff loops, mixed with bass, ep, and fx for a full sample chopping feel.
Recording is pristine, just enough “sauce” on their sounds to keep them unique. I really don’t know what they do to their libraries, but I love it, it has a “smokey” feeling almost, airy, light, hard, smooth, silky….just all around goodness.
Kinda like your favorite fresh warm pie!
What’s the final verdict on Premier Beats?
A+ all the way.
This is an inspiring library, even the packaging is amazing, the dvds look like little vinyl records!
I like how they packaged the sounds in a way that everyone can use no matter how you like to work. If you like to chop up samples, you can do that, if you just want to chop specific parts like the chords you can do that. Even if you want to take the various chords from throughout the library and put them together yourself (I think it’s somewhere over 1000 different sounds and riffs just in the chords section) you can do that.
You get bass, drums, ep, and fx sounds too! The drums alone are top notch and ready to go, so it’s like getting multiple libraries in one. Each section lives up to the quality and feel I’ve come to expect from eQuipped.
This is a 5 out of 5 subs library, all the way no questions asked. Something you will use for a very long time, their libraries are timeless.
If you want something that you can use, abuse, and not worry about it getting old, checkout Premier Beats and Hip Hop Instrumentals
or any of the other libraries from eQupped available at Big Fish: eQuipped Music at Big Fish

Ah Yeah! I’m glad you got to review this, BigFish’s demo was decent enough but after your take it’s a wrap. This has been on my shopping list I just haven’t gotten around to it with all the other sales that have my pockets looking like bunny-ears. 😀 Some may debate the vinyl vs. cd issue when it comes to libraries, both have valid points. However regardless of the source & tools it all comes down to the creativity of the user doesn’t it? Oooo, I can’t wait! I got this and the “equiped bundle” in my sights *(BFD Eco as well no thanks to you *lol*) after that I’m going to have to detox before my cable gets turned off. Then again perhaps I’ll just get an antenae, I might not have time for much t.v. anyway, especially with all the new toy goodness about to happen.
P.S.: for those interested, check out the bandmateloops.com current “no-brainer” feat. a FatLoops bundle @ $29.
-Peace & Blessings my people.
@Jamari, that’s why I do it man! So people can get a real feel for how it can be used from scratch. It’s one thing to hear a demo, it’s another to see a beat made with the sounds. Anything eQuipped makes is dope man lol.
I feel you on the antennae! So much good stuff out here man.
All I can say is nice. I am going to get this one!
@Priych, yeah man, I probably showed like 1/8th of the content, there’s so much in there
Nice! I’m gettin this one. Thanks for the review.
@Mike, no doubt fam, thanks for checkin the review
Awesome, Awesome, awesome! These sound samples are going to break me. This is now on my wish list. Thanks again bruh.
@Echo, I feel you! The thinkg about eQuipped is that their sounds libraries last! I still use the first one, Smoker’s Delight, I mean, they just make some classic, timeless stuff. And they pack so much in there it’s crazy!
Very nice. Especially the EPs & the drums I heard on their demo I definitely can do something with this library. I liked how you chopped up the samples bro. I’m gonna have to start building all kinds of different libraries in Maschine for my favorite drums & FXs (this library will make the cut).
@Madbull1971, yeah man, that’s what I do, make kits in Maschine out this stuff that I know I will use. I didn’t chop anything lol..those where just a kit I made by grabbing the first 16 chord/riffs and putting them in a group in maschine!
there’s so much here bro…it’s crazy really.
Nice bro nice!!!!!!!!
@orenthal davis, thanks for watchin bro!
I’ve been loving this company from back when they were e-lab. All the love you give ’em is the truth Joe. I’ve been on the fence given the 2 bill outlay, but I might have to cop the download (would miss the ill disc screens tho). I feel ya Jamari, my job just went out of business and I’m still feeding the DAW 🙂
5 subs indeed big homie!
@Metatron72, yeah man, I was rockin with them when they was e-lab too lol, vinylistics, the rnb joint they had lol…man, they come through flawless every time!

Peace StJoe, I love your detailed reviews – no crap – all sounds. My creditcard has purchased this for me – thank you creditcard. Regards from the tip of Africa. Keep fine. Alan.
@Alan@The Cape, thanks man! glad you enjoy the reviews, I definitely enjoy doing them!
another nice review and the beat sounded real nice. yup may have to look into this one.
@flux302, thanks for checkin it man, it’s a nice one.
The sounds are sick. Will this work on a mpc 2500 with a built in disc drive?
@Mike McCormick, if the drive can read wavs off of a dvd it should work, if not you can load it in your computer and transfer to the mpc via usb.
Yay!
Great vid. This is totally sick man! I must get it.
Peace
@everythingbutthegirl, yeah, I really liked this one lol.
Hi Saint Joe,
Do you have any idea were i can get samples like to premier beats samples? Specially the old vinyl samples of keys, strings and bass chords together. The only thing i’ve got is the premier beats 1,2 & 3 but i need more. Any ideas of things with the same feel as premier beats chord loops?
@Tedd J, check the soultown stuff from Motion Samples https://soundsandgear.com/motion-samples
other stuff from equipped like smokers relight, etc, has similar sounds but not all together like that, but still good
@saintjoe,
Thanks alot for that. Please do let me know about any other stuff
that comes out in that style.
Bless
TJ
@Tedd J, no doubt yo, glad to help!
