Big Fish Audio Eclipse Ambient Guitars

16

Hey what’s good fam, it’s Friday, time for some Big Fish

Today I’m taking a look at an ambient guitar library called “Eclipse”

Let’s check it out

So what is Eclipse?

It’s a collection of ambient/cinematic guitar loops and riffs in the Kontakt KLI format

The sounds are definitely geared towards the cinematic and chillout style of music

There are no drums, no bass, no keys, just 31 kits of guitar loops, guitar pads, guitar fx, and other guitar noises

You can either play the kits all together or open up the sliced loop kits to reconstruct each individual sound from the slices into your own loops and melodies.

Having it in the KLI interface really allows quick experimentation which I definitely like

Quick Specs

  • content: 8GB (3.44gb wav)
  • format: wav, apple, rex, kontakt
  • price: $129.95

How does it sound?

Well it’s no secret I’m a fan of ambient and ย cinematic sounds, I just love the texture and tone of these guitars all the way through.

I love how they were recorded and how they were manipulated or effected. ย Huge delay, reverb, echo, filter, wah, whatever…it all has a very airy feel about it.

The content is diverse but yet it still sticks to the main theme of the library allowing you to really dig deep, mix and match, and come up with new ideas quickly.

Having them there in the Kontakt interface ready to play the slices lets you experiment quickly while having the raw wav samples still allows you to do in and edit or manipulate exactly how you wish.

I had fun just playing the different loops together, they really fit well and have enough variety within each kit to give proper contrast to each other

So what’s the bottom line?

I like it, I like these types of sounds and anyone that’s into chillout, ambient, cinematic style guitars and samples will definitely enjoy this

I give Eclipse 4.5 out of 5 subs, it’s a really well recorded library that has tons of content to spark your creativity

You may think the samples would have entirely too much fx on them but that’s certainly not the case here. The fx were used properly to give the exact sound the library was going for.

However when using the KLI interface you can quickly dial in any of the many programmed fx right from the custom interface

If you like the smooth chilled out styles of guitar a loops, don’t pass up checking out the demo of this library:ย http://www.bigfishaudio.com/detail.html?514371

  1. Hi joe, these sound awesome, do they justify the cost? Really want these but will be a few months saving, love cinematic sounds and guitars. Thanks again for great review, are there other cinematic guitars packs you can recommend?

    • really depends on you and what you’re looking to invest in. They sound awesome, for some people this could be exactly what the need, especially those working in media/film, a quick infusion of some nice ambient guitars. So if it’s something you’d use a lot could be worth it, if not, really depends on your budget. Pretty much like anything you have to decide if it’s for you or not. Platinumloops has a cinematic guitars that’s nice, I reviewed that one too

  3. Hey Joe, thanks for the review! Just wondering if it’s possible to actually remove the effects using the KLI interface or if the guitars have been recorded with effects? thanks!

  4. I bought this and Titan based on your review. Keep up the good work St. Joe. I find your reviews invaluable.

btw- Guitar Center and Big Fish Audio are running a promotion where if you buy a title at GC(download only) you get another title of equal or less value for free! from Big Fish. As far as I know all titles apply. I bought the KLI versions of both these products for only $84.76! Promotion runs through Dec. 31st.
