Anyway, today I’m back with another product review from a new company I came across a few months back.
The company is Audio Genetics Lab, pretty cool, I really like their concept, you just have to read their site for a little bit to get what I mean 🙂
They have a flute library for kontakt that I wanted to check out so that’s what we are going to be looking at today
It’s called Native Flute and it’s a flute fx/mutations library
let’s see what’s up!
What is Native Flute?
It is a flute libary made from a native woodwind instrument for use in native instruments kontakt.
It’s not really a solo instrument but focuses more on flute fx, phrases, and mutations into totally new sounds.
It comes with about 30 patches and is a pretty straight forward library.
While there is a sustain type instrument for solo playing, that’s not the focus of this library

How does it sound?
It has a really raw and organic sound to it. Some of the phrases sound very authentic.
They recorded with no fx so it’s just a straight dry sound ready for your own fx and tweaking
The surprise here for me was the mutations folder, they really did some cool stuff in there.
Everything was created from the flute samples, but they turned them into drum kits, pads, bass drums, even a deep sub bass that sounds pretty sick.
I think I enjoyed the mutation side of the library more than the regular flute fx and phrases
What’s the bottom line?
I like their fun approach to making sample libraries, it really shows they enjoy what they do and have fun doing it.
I like the creativity of the mutations and taking something like a native flute instrument and using it to create pads, bass and drum kits.
The interface isn’t plain, but it doesn’t allow for much tweaking from the interface which I would have liked to see.
I give this library 3.5 out of 5 subs, it’s pretty cool sounding and the price is nice.
I will definitely be watching to see what else they do over there,
