Soundiron Rust 3 metallic percussion library review

14

Hey what’s good fam!

Hope all is well, back with another review for you.

Yall know I dig Soundiron, they have some really creative, good sounding, and affordable libraries.

Well today I’m checking out the third installment of their “Rust” series

Let’s check it out!

So what is Rust 3?

This is the third volume in a series which is dedicated to metallic and “found sound” type hits, kits, and noises.

This one has a really great interface with lots of control and they even threw in some ambiances and melodic type instruments.

The concept behind rust is definitely “metallic” or “experimental” yet taking those sounds and turning them into playable instruments and kits.

You get control over fx, the “uberpegiator” for making rhythmic phrases, as well as filter, lfo, and reverb.

Quick Specs

How does it sound?

They really captured the raw sound of the objects and devices they were recording.

The long sustained “ring” of the metallic objects, the raw sounds of the hits and scrapes, it’s all captured really well.

Nothing sounds “synthetic” not even the ambiences and drones they created form the samples.

It all has a really organic and “natural” sound to it, yet they make these unconventional sounds very usable

The sound is well recorded and captures all the nuances of the devices being sampled.

The library really gives you a nice infusion of found sound type material to work with.

So what’s the bottom line?

I really dig the control within the interface as well as the sound and usability

I give Rust 3 a rating of 4.5 out of 5 subs, it’s a very nice and functional interface with a high quality and instantly usable sound library

I really dig how Soundiron brings these unique and great sounding libraries within reach of the masses, their pricing structure on these smaller unique libraries is really nice!

    • Damage is a much larger library, has more kits, more impacts, and more general percussion, it also has loops. But this is a great collection as well, with some really cool sound design stuff going on.
