Off the Hook 3 hip hop and rnb samples

You already know what today is….

Big Fish Friday…

I love it, and you love it…so let’s just get on into it..

I also have a special surprise for you as well ๐Ÿ™‚

Today I’m checking out some urban samples from the “Off the Hook” series, which is very popular, and always brings the heat.

Off the Hook 3 is what’s on the plate for today, so let’s see what’s good.

What is Off The Hook 3?

It is a hip hop and rnb sample library full of construction kits from one of the most well known series in sample cds.

Trust me, if you’ve messed with sample cds for any amount of time,

you know the Off the Hook series…

which specialize in urban hip hop and rnb construction kits.

They always have a nice blend of live instruments, drums, synths, etc…

in various keys and tempos so there’s plenty in here for sure.

Quick Specs

  • content: 5.1gb wave files (12gb total in various formats)
  • format: wave, rex, apple loops
  • price: $129.95

How does it sound?

It sounds really good, I really enjoyed some of the synths and keys in here, and the guitars as well. I would have liked more strings for sure, but it’s all good.

What surprised me, but really shouldn’t, is the drums in here are DOPE….

like…really usable. I love that they included single drum hits in this library.

The production is top notch as always with no clicks or pops to be heard, and I really like the mixture of live instruments and synths, gives a nice feel.

Also, it’s not just one style, so it’s a very diverse collection of hip hop and rnb in here, with even a lil neo soul action at some points.

What’s the bottom line?

This is another solid addition to the Off the Hook series, and as long as I’ve been messing with sample libraries, I’ve never come across anything from this series that isn’t immediately usable and great sounding.

I can’t stress again, that I really enjoyed the drums in this library a lot, I will definitely be building some kits from them for regular use!

I give this a 4.5 out of 5 subs, solid library, solid production, with the added bonus of single hit drums…a library after my own heart!

Definitely give it a listen: Off the Hook 3 and don’t forget to checkout the rest of the Off the Hook series

The Big Fish Friday Giveaway!!!

Yep, I know you didn’t know about it, but it’s something I’ve been working to get going for ya, this is strictly for folks that are active readers of the site. ย Over the past few weeks I’ve purged my mailing list, removing folks that don’t open/read emails, so I have it narrowed down only to folks that actually want to hear from me. Then from them, I entered the emails into random.org and chose a winner. This is something that will be on-going, a couple times a month for sure, and at the end of the year there will be a huge $2500 giveaway!

So, this is just another reason to open those emails when I send them as I’m watching ๐Ÿ™‚ You can always make sure you’re on the list by entering your info in the signup form, if you’re already there, it won’ t let you join again, if not…you’ll be in.

I really appreciate everyone that supports and comes to this site and I’m want to really continue to build this community, at the same time, I want to hook ya up! ย So props to Big Fish Audio for being down with this, and props to you for being a supporter!

  2. nice job man. though alot of the samples you played seemed like they were trying to recreate elements of songs that have already been made. did you get that vibe or was that just something i got out of the small snippet? also have you heard any news on that detroit soul library they have been working on? thats one that I am very excited for.

  4. Great review and a great sounding beat man! I’m also wondering if the big fish has any latin loops or latin instrument sample’s? Right now i’m not only working on hip hop or r&b and blues, But also latin club jams like cumbia’s, freestyle dance, reggaeton stuff like that so I can maybe get in the latin club music market since I live in Texas. I’ll tell you like if big fish can make some crazy old analog vacuum tube sample’s of classic old blue’s and classic old jazz, Maybe like between the 50’s and the 20′ that would be so cool!!!

  7. I just had a chance to peep this sound library. Very cleanly produced and mastered. I like the sound effects (for transitions) used in some of the kits and I could see myself adding those to many of my own tracks. The drums are tight and overall this is the genre of music I’m into so this is something I can see myself owning even if I use only minute bits & pieces from the kits.
