  1. Whatz tha damn deal!!! You iz smooth wih your site how much did that cost?
I use fl studio with out a controller using cpu key bord does the controller help with layering? and does a keybord MIDI Controller werk tha same way?

    • Ahahahah lol…you can get them mashine for about 599, or in payments from some of my advertisers like american musical. A controller will change your life man, you can even get a nice 25 key joint for cheap

      check it out http://usbmidikeyboardcontrollers.com

you can do all the layering in your software, this just gives you a hands on feel.

but I will say maschine is totally different. I turned off the monitor and just used the hardware to make the whole track…it’s easy to do as well.

    • 808 drum kits can be found pretty much anywhere…young jeezy snares? not sure I can help ya with those. But welcome to the site man! I think I have a sample kit to review that you may like a lil bit! Stay tuned.

  2. Yeah buddy! I was wondering when you were going to cop one. I’ll admit there’s a tad bit of gear-envy at the moment, but I just couldn’t pass on the sale for K5 last month, so that’s my allowance for awhile. We’ve swapped a few thoughts on the NI forums, so I hope the current midi issues doesn’t discourage you, when the 1.1 update hits the streets I thinks it’s going to be more of what it’s meant to be when it comes to DAW intergration. Let me know what your button configuration is, it seems some early adapters have slightly different layouts making somethings “non-ergonomic” when you need to use button combo’s (i.e. switching to midi controller mode) speaking of midi controller mode…I’m itching to see what you do when you pair Maschine w/ Beat Thang Virtural or better yet w/Battery 3 and play with the velocity sample layers…Mmmm-Mmmm I smell some funky beats in the kitchen.
Keep me posted on how it turns out.

    • Whatup J! Man you know I already made a beat in beat thang virtual with it lol. Perfect man! Works good with battery and it’s sexy with FXpansion GURU as well. But the magic is in Maschine itself. I really like the workflow so far. I turned off my monitor and was making tracks…it’s ergonomic, I didn’t realize I could latch some screens…so I was holding buttons to do some stuff. But I’m already pretty fast on it and I only spent a couple hours with it.

There’s tons to learn though…I’m thinking of making a dedicated site for it similar to what I did with the beat thang. So I can just keep updating it anytime I find something new or want to share, without flooding this site with everything about it lol.

Either way, it’s pretty good man…I still got to play with it though and really get a feel for it.

The lacking features don’t bother me at all. I don’t sample that much…I use tons of samples that I chop and such…but I don’t do much “play this music to sample” type of stuff.

But manual chop is gonna be crazy, and midi out…man, this with Kore is going to be a monster…shoot, beat thang virtual son!

let’s go! Good to see ya over here man! I appreciate ya!

  4. I’ve got to upgrade my computer. I keep having problems with midi software. My Sony Acid Pro works great with samples, but if I try and add a virtual synth alot of times an error pops up after alot of use. Can’t wait to see the next Maschine Review! I see your getting a following on here. That’s Awesome, Stay Blessed!

    • I feel ya bro, i’m going to build me a computer just for this stuff. Right now I’m on my laptop, I really bought it to run my biz but it’s fine for now. I just want something dedicated to the software and music stuff. Thanks for the support bro! I really appreciate it!

    • Whatup pops! Yeah son, this joint is crazy. I will have a full review of course but off top, this is a crazy piece of gear. I’m lovin it…I think anyone who is getting started or who wants a different workflow should get it. Creativity flows out. I feel like I’m back on hardware but without any limits to sounds, storage, fx, etc.

I turned my monitor off, and made music. period.

  6. How do you feel about this compared to your MPC. I know you’ve logged far more hours on the 4000; but from what you have seen so far any base verdicts?

    Reply
    • I really like it man, compared to the mpc, it’s a little different. It can’t control my whole studio like th empc used to. But I don’t have a room full of gear anymore so that’s not a big deal. I haven’t spent enough time with it making songs and such, mostly patterns. I love it, it’s way quicker than my mpc, I really feel I have no need for my mpc anymore. If, I still had a room full of hardware it’d be different, I’d need a main sequencer…but with midi out coming to the maschine, I’m just not sure man, this next update is supposed to be crazy and I already love it anyway.

So it’s dope, it’s not the mpc, it’s something totally different, and I really don’t feel I need my mpc anymore.

  7. Yea man that’s what I have been thinking. I’ve heard some other people say the same thing. My 1000 is tight but the software integration is so good from what I have seen as far as workflow. The way you can pick your sounds on the board and assign them is CRAZY. No more pushing mode then program and having to data wheel everything in. I think I need to get one. That and Komplete 6…. They need to make those integrate so I can access Komplete sounds via Maschine; so you can use a midi keyboard linked with Maschine and that’s all you would need in your whole studio.

I mean, everything is going the way of the computer. Even turntables lol. But this hardware integration is near perfect. The only thing I can think of that has came close is the Arturia Analog Factory (which I need too…. lol)

    • Yeah bro, that’s what I want to see…if they can somehow allow it to access their other instruments in a “modular” format that would KILL. Maybe allow KORE to plug into it somehow, and let it integrate so you can pick the sounds from the controller.

That way, it won’t kill the kore line, since they didn’t put kore functionality in maschine, but it will give those that have both maschine and kore/komplete more integration.

I’m telling you, this would be freaking HUGE lol. Midi out will be dope when they add that in the update, and I’ll see how it works with KORE, but having it more like a modular plugin within maschine will change the game even more.

  8. Exactly man, That would be too serious that would be the perfect setup. I would personally like the see a keyed version of Maschine but doubt it will come. At any rate if they get the Maschine going as mentioned I wouldn’t mind sequencing a midi keyboard into it, but I want to access all sounds through it. I mean imagine a keyed version that is directly linked to all parameters in Kontakt, FM8, Absynth, Reaktor, etc! It gets me excited just thinking about this kind of gear. Think of a modern ASR-10 but with perfect software integration! They mentioned Maschine specific soundpacks which is still cool but I would much rather see Komplete integration.

I mean, it could be midi’d to Kore…just not sure if NI would make this happen.

    • Bro! I was thinking the SAME THING lol…wow, that’s crazy, we have the same exact ideas man lol. That would be DOPE lol…crazy..we’ll see where it goes and where they take it. But if they allow us to access komplete sounds the same way we can with maschine, either through a keyboard version or through a plugin module for maschine…it’s OVER lol.

  9. lol Imagine if they did like a keyboard with Maschine built in…. …
Make Komplete accessible via Maschine but an aftermarket keyboard where the Maschine “locks in” like a retrofit MPK… then you have keys and pads AND would accommodate current Maschine owners. Either way I would cop just a keyed version tomorrow (kind of waiting for the update to see what happens before I make any purchases though) But like I said; I don’t really want to see Maschine soundpacks, I want to see Komplete. While they are at it why not integrate Kore into this Maschine with keys….
Have you seen the new Komplete? Great move by NI making it WAY more affordable at $500.

But anyways. The way you can pick drums off the Maschine is already the best thing to happen to production since scratching, so man… show me the Komplete. I mean lets be real here; that is production bliss and you wouldn’t need any other gear. I love the way you get perfect hands on control of hardware, but the processing power of a computer.

    • Yep, I want to see KORE integration man…that opens it up to komplete.

I would love to see that man lol…I don’t need maschine to fit in there lol…just make it all work!

I’ll take maschine packs, but I really want to see it integrate with komplete or whatever.

and yes, komplete 6 is CRAZY and puts other workstations to shame.

  10. LOL I know the whole snap in expansion was a bit of a stretch but hey, it’s been done before. With NI’s background, they could come out with their own dedicated hybrid workstation and it would be a beast! Think of a Neko but dedicated Native Instruments gear and software that is perfectly integrated. Theres really nothing out there like this. Think stability of a ROMpler but the expansion of a computer.

    • brother…I think we are related, or twins. I’ve had the SAME EXACT ideas man lol..would be ILL.

I wouldn’t want to see it go totally stand alone though, it would shoot the price up, but something tightly integrated with the computer, yet everything can be done from the hardware…

I can see this in the future.

  11. Your probably right, it would be too expensive if it was completely stand alone. But a Maschine on steroids is EXACTLY what I need. Man I’m not into all those crazy studios with 50 pieces of gear I like to have just a select few pieces that I know the in’s and out’s of perfectly. If this ever happened you really would not need anything else but a laptop! I love working on hardware but the limitations of yesteryear have always been a downside. I would like to own a SP1200 but I don’t want 10 seconds of sample time. This hybrid setup is perfect because it takes advantage of hands on hardware workflow with modern technology. My MPC has 128mb of ram but my laptop can handle 4gb of ram so theres a huge improvement technology wise.

    • I feel you man, that would be a crazy setup dude, real talk. I think after they get all the kinks worked out in maschine, they may look in that direction, I don’t see why they wouldn’t.

Take that recepter, openlabs, etc concept, but make it more affordable and run everything from the software. I mean they could even use some dsp card technology like some of the fx companies and run some of the processing from dsp cards on the hardware unit, yet still have everything be software…

      man, crazy.
