I use this kit often ever since I bought it. Nice thick sounding drums, meaty kicks, snappy snares, some nice hats. There are a few claps in here as well, but the main focus of the library, the kicks and snares, perfect for all types of music where a solid kick and snare are needed. Definitely something for those that love the boom bap style of drum. Not so much a dirty vinyl style, even though there is some vinyl elements to it, it’s really just a dope collection of punchy drums with a lil bit of grit to give them character. These drums are solid.

great website mate as always thanks for your work …much appreciated
Thanks man, glad you dig it!
Yes, seems like a very usable kit! Thanks for the review. 🙂
No problem man!
hi i copped the illmind kit from istandard producers a bout 6 months ago and by what i can tell from your demo the istandard one has diffrent samples just wondering if u had heard the illmind istandard kit and how diffrent it is to this blap kit.
I don’t know if they are different or not, I have both of the kits he sells himself, I never heard of the other one though.
by what i heard on your demo i think its different but may have a few same kicks or snares. check it out the link below plus they sell alot of other producer kits str8 from the producers on there. http://istandardproducers.com/shop/istandard-exclusive-sound-kits-the-llmind-collection/
Yeah I dunno, I didn’t play everything in the video so, may have missed some similar stuff, it’s possible it’s different. But this one and the vol 2 are the ones he sells on his own site.
i love this kit and use it a real lot…def one of my favorites…even though it’s made for hip hop/neo soul/r&b, i use it for a lot of other styles of music…i just like the sound…i also really like the volume 2, stays in the tradition of vol 1 but with lots of new colors…
Yep, I have them both and use them often as well.
This is nice, I tend not to usually like “producer” labeled kits but from what I’ve heard here…it could get my vote. I can’t help but wonder if he used Addictive Drums for some of the sound shaping.
I’m the same way man, but I use this often. I’ve heard he uses AD in his tracks/drums so you may not be too far off.
Just to clear this up the istandard illmind kit is different from the other illmind kits (all from the same producer tho, obviously).
Allthough there are a few sounds featured in the “istandards illmind collection” that are in “illmind blap kit vol.1”, but for the most part it has all new sounds.
i have all 3 kits and love them!
@Xavier. P, cool fam, thanks for the info!
This is good stuff. Are you going to review vol. 2 and 3.
@Haralduz7, Yeah I plan on showing them all, just catching up after the holidays and such
hey i just bought the blap kit and i dont have it like no download link came up after purchased. what do i do??
@man man, you should contact their support and see what’s up. It’s usually sent to your paypal address.

just wanted to mention that illmind blap kit vol. 2 is definitely better mixed than vol 1. dB levels are much higher in vol. 1 and the samples are compressed really harsh, nearly every waveform has the saw tooth form which usually means that the sound was overcompressed.
in vol. 2 it’s a lot different. the kicks are also mixed much better with less low end and more high frequencies. all samples in vol. 1 and 2 are mixed in mono.
@Colourblue, yeah, I have pretty much all the kits, they definitely got better as it went along.
