Boom and Bap: Dope VST Beat Machine Review

110

Here’s a new drum plugin from a new plugin company called Dope VST

The plugin is called Beat Machine and it’s made to be a “Classic Hip Hop Drum Synth”

It’s more of a sample player than a synth, and the drums are definitely geared towards boom bap, underground, gritty, vinyl style production.

There’s something like 500 kits in this thing, easy to pull up, you can load stereo output or multi output versions.

If you want quick access to a ton of raw, classic drum kits, this may be something to look into.

  1. Do You think these are the same creators like “Music Weapons – Drum Weapons 3” ?
Because its all the same concept… I MEAN, DRUM WEAPONS IS THE BEST Drum VSTi u can get in my opinion but if you look closely to the homepage and the vsti: there are many similarities
Just look at the knobs of Drum Weapons 3 and dope vst
    They ARE the same!
Okay okay… But whats my point??
My point is i dont want to buy sounds that i own already just repacked… i dont want to say its scam but if there are the same sounds like DW3 then its pathetic in my opinion

BUT NO DOUBT: GREAT SOUNDS…but maybe u will have it 2x..

    • @Raphael, I thought the same, but I talk to the dudes from music weapons and they didn’t say this was there’s. I’m assuming maybe they licensed the same software. The new Drum Weapons is coming out and it doesn’t look anything like this anymore so that’s why I thought maybe these folks used the same software/builder. I’ve seen it happen before when people are making their own plugins, it’s usually a template type of plugin that will have a very similar layout. Either way, I thought it was cool for sure, but that was my first thought as well!

        • @Raphael, No doubt fam, that’s what I assumed as I’ve seen some different vst/plugin template type software and when people use it they will come out similar in layout. That would be my guess I would hope nothing shady is going on.

  2. I see what Raphael is saying above. It’s resemblance to DW is uncanny. I just got DW3 and the Knobs are the same. The kit list is also the same. The concept of multiouts is also the same. Anyway I am cool with DW so won’t be getting unless I have extra money to burn. Thanks for showing it though.

Btw hou did you route the multi out in maschine for one instance of this plugin?

  5. I actually prefer DW2 to 3. The sounds in DW3 have too much reverb in my opinion. Thats without using the verb knob at all. I however like the fact that I got all the sounds in Dw3 as Maschine expansion kits. Dope. Guess what though just got this Dope vst joint too. Haha! I am such a sucker for drums

  8. @SaintJoe Don’t know how I miss this review, but Im glad I found it. Just starting to stockpile some drum sounds and this looks like it would be a great addition. Just wanted to make sure that it works well with logic pro 9, no glitches and whatnot…Preciate the reviews Saint…

  10. Thanks for this review, just bought it and I must say, this is BANG for money. 99$ and this..damn, it actually beats a lot of kits out there. I just checked all the kits with a midi file they sent, all sound different. Hats might sound repetitive(but that’s the thing when it’s old school), kicks-snares-percussion, they all sound very very different(specially the texture on kicks). Thanks a lot for this review and much love and respect.

  12. @SaintJoe Ok, so I finally purchase Beat Machine and have yet to receive my personal serial number. Tried to send a message to support and it said they were permanently unavailable…Use the website support and still haven’t gotten a response. Just wanted to know if anyone else had this problem and what’s up with DopeVST? It’s been about three hours now so I may be a little impatient, but the purchase email said within an hour. Let me know if you heard anything Saint…
