Best Service TITAN 2 Synthesizer Review

8

Hey what’s good fam?

Back with a new review from Best Service, today I’m checking out TITAN 2

This is the next version of their super synth instrument plugin.

It runs on their Engine 2 workstation and comes over 12,000 presets.

Let’s dig in!

So what is TITAN 2?

titan_2This is a product that emulates over 200 different synths, it’s like the all in one synthesizer pretty much.

It covers analog and digital hardware synths, and now even covers popular software synthesizers.

The goal is to provide you all of the various popular types of synth sounds you could one, in one interface.

Speaking of the interface, it’s been updated since version 1, now you can layer sounds from 2 different sources and all of your parameters are right on the front page for quick tweaking.

You even have multiple ways of adding movement thanks to the step sequencer, arp, arranger, you can even import and use midi files to trigger your sounds.

Quick Specs

How does it sound?

Reel to Reel Tape RecorderMan there’s soooooooooooo much content in here, and there’s definitely some great sounds to be had.

What I love most is the variety covered,  you get ambient leads and pads, deep bass, digital bells, even orchestral string instruments.

Any type of synth and synthesis you can think of is covered. You can browse by sound type, or, if you know exactly what you want you can browse by emulated sound source.

From Osphere, to ASE, to ImpASCor 2, or any of the other 266 sound sources, there’s so many instruments covered here this definitely aims to be a one stop synth shop.

You get it all, from smooth and ambient, to cinematic, to straight up dubstep and rugged synths.

I really don’t see how someone could exhaust all of the sounds in this product at all, not to mention the way you can layer them with the two different synth engines you get at once.

So what’s the bottom line?

If you’re one of those people who get inspired by new sounds and need a constant influx of new content, you will not be disappointed with this one at all.

4subsI give TITAN 2 A 4 out of 5 subs, there’s just so much content in here, with so much variety, there’s definitely something for everybody.

Now if you’re someone that really likes to get down and dirty tweaking your synths, I find this interface a little too small, it really seems to be setup for quick tweaking and adjusting as opposed to deep synthesis work. Of course it could be preference…my eyes aren’t what they used to be, but I did find it a tad small.

Also, the browser system could use some work (though that’s more about Engine 2 than this product), it really sticks out with the amount of content in this library.

Browsing through the pop out menus for thousands upon thousands of sounds can get tedious.

Despite those two issues, I find this to be a great value for the price, not to mention the included impulse reverb which sounds great.

All in all, if you need a huge collection of synth sounds and don’t want to go out and purchase every single synth available, do yourself a favor and check this out.

You may just find it covers your synth needs quite well.

  1. This is the most amazing synthetizeur(s) i’ve ever seen. I buy it and i’ve got one thing to say : INCREDIBLE !
I use for one month and i can’t seen all the sound yet. For find YOUR SOUND you can superpose differents layers with Engine and mix lot of sounds to create what you want and possibilities to masterise one by one by Engine2 (Like Independence)you’ve got a millions possibilities..
This is not really expensive for the quality.
So much sounds, you’ve got all you want i really enjoy it ! Thanks for your test man..

  2. The one thing about Titan is its emense library probably an accumulation of a mixture of all the past akai libraries from Best Serviceand Spectronics all rolled into one.. Sadly though these libraries heavily rely on software but without the incredible individual hardware filters found in past older ROLAND-EMU-Akai samplers. Look at the past machines especially EMU E4Platinium, Akai S3000-5000 and the S900-1000-1100 series and alsoRoland S700 and Kurzweil libraries. To this day I am amazed how blantantly all of the libraries bar some of the classical libraries are take offs of the past classic Samplers. In thise days the only limitations were the higher bit rates and KHz although it was made up for by the individual manufacturers hardware and their convertors.

    • Or it’s an accumulation of actual hardware synthesizers that have been sampled. Best Service has been around for years, no doubt they created libraries in the past for other platforms. Many of these companies have been creating content for years, including for the old Roland, Akai, Emu samplers.

  3. Saint Joe you rock! 🙂
This is 50% at VST Buzz right now. Would you recommend this for someone who just uses presets and doesn’t actually create or tweak sounds much? I have Absynth 5, but am looking for more synthesizer sounds for cinematic and ambient type music. I have a lot of the Heavyocity stuff, but none of the Aeon collection. Would you recommend these presets over Aeon, Zebra or other synths/libraries? Especially for the price? Just wondering if you think the quality of the sounds, etc. are as good? Thanks for your help!

    • I wouldn’t suggest these over something like Aeon, which is more focused on specific style. This is a great collection of all types of synthesizer sounds, both hardware and software. So if you’re just looking for a dope collection of sounds it’s definitely something to consider for the sheer volume of instruments covered.
