Vir2 Fractured: Prepared Acoustic Guitar library review

13

What’s good fam, it’s Friday, time for some Big Fish!

Today I’m checking out a brand new instrument from Vir2 called Fractured: Prepared Acoustic Guitar

It’s another library in the sound design and fx category.

Everything is derived from manipulation of an acoutic guitar

Let’s check it out!

What is Fractured?

It is a collection of sounds and instruments made up from creative sampling and manipulation of various acoustic guitar.

This concept is similar to what they did with the violin in theirย Violenceย library

So the initial sound of the library is organically acoustic…

But they take it, twist it, bend it, effect it, and torture it to create various other sounds.

You get drum kits, pads, scrapes, impacts, hits, fx, and various other sounds.

Quick Specs

  • content: 2.3GB
  • format: Kontakt 5 or Kontakt 5 Player
  • price: $149.95

How does it sound?

This is a very creative library that stretches the use of the acoustic guitar to it’s limits

Sure you can still hear the foundation of the acoustic guitar in most of the library, but there are many cases where it sounds totally different.

I was surprised by some of the impact derived in the drum kits as well as the smooth lushness of the pads and synths

I enjoy the scrapes, hits, and other random string manipulations as well.

It’s definitely easy to forget that everything is based on acoustic guitar samples

The sound design team really did a good job, everything is well recorded and plays back with no artifacts whatsoever.

What is the bottom line?

I really dig this library and I’m glad Vir2 is making more creative and sound design library within reach of more users

A lot of times libraries like this cost a premium, so the $150 price tag is quite welcome. It allows those who wish to dabble in the more esoteric sound categories a chance to do so at a reasonable cost.

As for the library itself, I give it 4.5 out of 5 subs, it’s a really great product that features some pretty awesome sound design.

One thing I would have liked to see would be an actual step sequencer we could edit in the tempo synced portion of the library

Overall this is a great sounding library with enough control to allow you proper customization.

Definitely head over and check it out:ย http://www.bigfishaudio.com/detail.html?512306
