Reviewing RnB Soul Delite Keys from Motion Samples

Time to bring that sexy back baby!

Today I’m reviewing another sample collection sent over from motionsamples.com

This time we’re gonna sexy it out with some RnB style keys

What are R&B Soul Delite Keys?

souldeliteWell, I’m glad you asked yo! According to the website:

Motion Samples presents an extraordinary collection of R&B’s finest ep, rhodes, piano and keyboard melodies with over 200 extended loops mixed down with Eventide processors for the perfect reverbs, delays and fx.

Never before have we offered so many melody ideas in one collection presenting great musicianship and soulful warm keyboard tones that will inspire you endlessly.

Highly recommended for R&B songwriters and producers.

That’s all fine and good, but what do they sound like? What about variety?

They sound amazing, the loops are rather long so it gives you a lot to work with.

But they production is where it stands out, they really went in on the style of play in this collection.

There are tons of variations in the typical R&B styles. Everything from R&B bangers, to ballads, to soulful hip hop and even a lil pop.

You can do whatever you want with these and the musicianship is second to none.

I was definitely impressed with the variation from loop to loop and I didn’t get board at all, each loop felt like it could become it’s own song.

Sound quality was on point as usual, no clipping or distortion, not too loud so you have headroom to put them in your own mixes.

Okay, so what about the value on this collection? Will it break the bank?

3D chrome Dollar symbolThe short answer is NO. It comes in right at 40 bucks even, keeping it in the average price range for most pro level sample paks.

It’s still less than a full sample cd but don’t let that stop you, the quality and variety in this collection is well worth the price of admission.

Especially if you’re looking to get that smoother side of the R&B or Hip Hop into your tracks. The only way to even attempt to have some riffs and chops like this, is sampling from some of your favorite records, or hiring a keyboard player.

There is just no faking your way through a sound like this, very detailed and distinct, you really feel like just taking the loops as is, no chops, and building a song.

So what’s the final verdict?

5subsStraight up, no question, without a doubt, 5 out of 5 subs. Period. End of discussion.

A producer will be busy for months using these loops, like I said, each one is practically a song/track waiting to happen. The 200 loops are NOT variations of the same loop, in most cases each loop is a completely different idea, I really like that.

Instead of 4-10 variations of the same loop or riff, you get 200 different ideas to mess with.

This raises the stock in addition to the fact that the loops themselves are long, 4-8 bars or so, and very well produced.

It’s no question motinsamples aims to be a major player in the sample pack game for a long time…I’ve yet to come across anything form them I didn’t like, or would improve or do differently.

That says a lot.

So the next time you’re looking to sexy out your tracks, make sure you checkout the soul delite keys, trust me, you’ll love em.

Motion Samples Hip Hop Pianos and Organs

Mo samples from motionsamples.com baby.

Today we are looking at their hip hop organs and pianos pack.

When they first sent it to me, I assumed it would be a bunch of underground keyboard riffs…

let’s see whatsup.

Mo Keys Please….

I’m a firm believer that you can never have too many piano, organ, clavi, basically any type of keys. Never too many.

hiphoppianorganmainLet’s see what’s in this set:

Over 200 loops of Hip Hop piano and organ melodies recorded live and from outboard keyboards.

Whether you’re a samplehead or not so great keyboardist, this original collection offers endless cold hooks and chords to sample from or drop into your beats.

This is an unregretful collection for the truest east and west coast Hip Hop producers

Is there a good variety of styles?

I liked the variety, it was surprising. Like I said, I assumed it would be full of underground hip hop stuff but it wasn’t.

There were some riffs in here that were pretty sexy, and even some stuff that reminded me of that down south FUNK.

You know, that Dungeon Family, Eightball & MJG type stuff…don’t tell me you don’t know about that?

That’s the SOUF before the “new dirty south” sound. You can still find it, just not on the radio as much.

Anyway, point being there is plenty of variety that everyone will be able to find something to use.

NY, LA, ATL, NO, wherever you be…you can use something in here.

Production quality and sound?

I don’ t know why I do this for motion, but I guess I have to let ya know lol. If you don’t realize it by now, motion puts out very good quality recordings.

The samples are never distorted, unless on purpose, and they are never clipping or anything like that.

Also, the production styles and instrumentation is on point as usual, they are not your generically played riffs, these joints are intricate, you can tell they got some really good keyboardists to lay these down.

How about the price?

3D chrome Dollar symbolThey have this set priced good, right at 30 bucks.

Not the average sample pack price, it’s a little lower, but not too low to where you naturally question the quality, it’s sitting just right….

This keeps it in the budget and range for many people, and even if you’re only purchasing one pack a month, there is enough in here to keep you busy, with enough variety to keep you interested.

What’s the bottom line? What’s the rating?

This was a good, useful, inspiring collection. It seems everyone has their own idea of what a good piano or organ sounds like when it comes to hip hop and urban music.

Luckily for us, motion doesn’t force it’s own agenda here, they give you enough variation to please even the toughest critic… I’m from the midwest, so it’s a melting pot of various styles, and I love it all.

4subsI gave this a 4 out of 5 subs.

It was a solid collection, nothing I’d feel bad recommending to my closest buddies, and a nice weapon to have in any producer’s arsenal.

This was a good collection of keys, and if you’re like me and you’re always looking for some dope key riffs, you just may find them in this collection.

I’m sure you’ll find something.

Hip Hop horn samples from Motion Samples

Bring in the horns baby!

We back with another sample collection from motionsamples

Today we are checking out their Hip Hop Horns collection.

I’ll admit, when I usually get a horn sample library, it’s pretty…uhh…wack.

So I didn’t know what to expect going in, especially it being hip hop focused.

Is it just a bunch of dirty south stuff? The demo didn’t make me think that…

They sent over this horn collection for review, let’s just find out what’s good!

Whatup with the horns?

hh_hornsmain

Well I’ll just let motion tell ya what they are…

This original collection of synthetic horn loops is great for droppin’ those big hooks on top of your beats! It contains 120 loops of non stop bangin’ horns played in funky, motown, and orchestral styles. Why sample from the oldies when you can have that classic sound without having to get clearance. Beatmakers beware, you’re gonna eat this one up…

“Hip Hop” horns? How much variety is there?

Surprisingly there is quite a bit. You’d think there would be a lot of overlap in 120 hip hop horn loops but there isn’t.

You’ve got the bangers, the dirty south anthems, the smooth jazzy stuff, and some straight up NY funk.

I was definitely surprised at the diversity of the collection. You can really find some nice foundations for your next track.

How is the sound and production of the samples? What’s the quality?

motion_logoAs always, I’ve never been disappointed with motion’s quality.

The actual production is dope, the riffs are NOT corny, they are top notch productions. I found myself just listening to the riffs and wanting to just loop them!

Sometimes that’s a good thing lol. But there’s enough in the loops to chop them up as well. There are no over processed samples, no distortion ( unless on purpose) and no clipping.

The production is definitely high quality.

What about the price? Will it break the bank?

3D chrome Dollar symbolOne of our members on the site suggested I should make mention of the prices on some of these things to better save you time when I”m reviewing.

I try to review stuff from all different pricepoints so I never made it a point to talk about price unless I specifically thought I needed to.

However, I’m all about helping each and every one of ya, so if it saves you from wasting time checking out things that aren’t in your budget, then I’m all for it!

Anyway.

For $25 bucks, I really don’t see how you can go wrong with this one.  The price puts these sounds in the reach of most people, and for what you get I actually think it’s a little low.

I’ve purchased sample collections from a lot of places, some almost double or triple this price, and they weren’t as good or well produced.

I definitely think this is a great value.

So what’s the bottom line, how many subs we talkin here?

This joint was well produced, well recorded, and diverse. It was a lot better than I anticipated, I assumed I would give it an above average score, about 3.5 or 4 subs.

5subsBut after I went through it and played with it, I had to give it 5 subs, it was really good, I mean really good.

I have to keep it real yall, I was seriously thinking it would be “good” or “pretty good” which would give it about 3.5 subs…not average, but not great.

These are great. And the price is right too.

A review of Big Boss Sounds from Motion Samples

Once again we are back with some more samples for ya.

This time, I’m checking out a company that I’ve been a customer of for a while. I was a customer when they first started selling samples on eBay and now they’ve turned into one of the premiere sample providers online today.

Motion Samples provides high quality drums, loops, riffs, and loops for urban, hip hop, pop, trance, electro and even tv/film.

I have stuff in my collection I constantly go to from them, stuff you can’t even get anymore lol…the classics.

But today, we are checking out one of their top selling libraries…. they sent over Big Boss Sounds for me to checkout.

You wanna sound like a Boss…

bigbossmainBig Boss sounds is a collection of various different instruments and riffs layered, full production style, and sliced up ready to be put together.

“Make way for Big Boss Sounds comin’ at you with over 250 colossal multi-samples of stab chords, horns, orchestra hits, retro synth hooks, piano licks, dirty organs and tons more. Just arrange these sounds in your favorite sampler then trigger away to make massive dirty south melodies on the fly!”

What’s in there? I’m not a dirty south producer…

I’m not a big dirty south style of producer, but I’ve been known to throw something together that could be classified in that genre.  I was a little worried that these samples would force me to make music that isn’t really my style.

To my surprise it wasn’t full of lil john melodies and solja boy blips….this is MUSIC man.

This is definitely NOT only for dirty south, there are strings, brass, synths, organs, pianos, electric pianos, and more…and the styles that are played are ready to be chopped, sliced, and re-purposed into everything from dirty south, to club bangers, and even your next sexy rnb joint.

They are versatile…I was pleasantly surprised.

What about the sound quality?

motion_logoOne thing I’ve always loved about motion samples is their sound quality, bottom line, I have NEVER heard anything from them that isn’t production ready.

I’ve purchased everything from drums, to keys, to guitars, and they all sound superb.

The sound quality is where you want it to be, you KNOW I don’t play when it comes to quality

So what is the bottom line on Big Boss Sounds?

Bottom line for me is, I was expecting to have to deduct a few points for being forced to sound like lil john or solja boy…

Instead, these sounds can be used for any type of style or music, and I love not being boxed in.

4andhalfsubsI have to give this collection a 4.5 out of 5 subs…it’s that good, that versatile, and that BANGIN.

I am definitely looking forward to sharing a bit more about motion and their library with you, I’m always one that looks for

diversity, so having choices in samples, and being able to KNOW you’ll get quality for the money you spend is crazy.

Speaking of money you’ll spend

Another thing I like about motion samples is the price. This super ill collection of Big Boss Sounds is only like 20 bucks…

I don’t care who you are, 20 bucks is 20 bucks and being able to improve your sound collection for such a small amount is lovely.

Go ahead….click the banner below to go on over and get some motion samples in ya life yo

MotionSamples.com

Make sure you tell me what you think, these companies read the reviews so keep the opinions coming.

If you buy something from them, let me know what you get….I can definitely recommend Big Boss Sounds… great way to spend a 20.

What you think?
