today I’m checking out an urban orchestra pack called Hoodlum Orchestra
What is Hoodlum Orchestra?
a collection of multi sample orchestra based loops.
Strings, violins, timpanis, and horns all played in a nice orchestral style,
with an urban edge.
These aren’t single sound loops, but multiple sounds put together in one loop,
just like the samples you’d grab from records or cds
Quick Specs
Content: 160 multisample loops
Format: wave
Price: $35
What do they sound like?
Like some dope orchestra loops. They don’t sound synthetic so I don’t know if they brought in real string players or what, but they definitely have an authentic sound to them.
Not too epic to where you can use it, some of them are laid back too.
Quality wise there’s nothing to worry about, everything is recorded well.
Production wise, there is plenty of variation to get a bunch of different feels.
Everything from down south anthems, laid back west coast strings, and hype/grimey east coast stuff….it’s all here.
So what’s the bottom line on the Hoodlum Orchestra?
It’s a very solid collection of orchestral samples.
Sometimes you get orchestral samples and they are too “epic” sounding so you can only use them for hype/epic style music.
These have a nice variety with plenty of laid back sounds to fit into various types of music.
They are played with an urban edge so they will provide constant inspiration.
Time for another sound hound, checking out some more samples from Motion Samples, one of my favorite companies.
SoulTown Samples volume 2, we already checked out SoulTown Samples vol 1, and I had a few suggestions.
Let’s see what’s up with this one.
What is SoulTown Samples?
Just in case you don’t remember, SoulTown is a collection of samples that aims to capture that classic soul music sound.
Not just soul music, but the types of riffs and samples that hip hop producers love to dig for.
They mix it so it has that vintage sound, and they jam out so you get a nice mixture of guitars, bass, keys, strings, vocals, etc.
No percussion or drums to worry about filtering out, just the music.
Quick Specs
Content: 190 multi samples
Format: wav
Price: $40.00
How do they sound?
Do you really need to ask that question? I think you know by now that Motion Samples brings the goods each and every time.
What I like about this volume is that the samples are a lot longer than the first one. Volume 1 felt like someone already chopped the samples for me, which is cool, but you have to try a bit harder to make your own chops…and you’re tempted to use the chops as is.
In volume 2, each samples is a lot longer, so you can get your chop on pretty crazy like.
The recording of the samples are top notch and I’ve noticed they got a lil more funky on the production.
There is a lot more going on in some of these samples in regards to the instrumentation, which is always great…it helps give it that real classic feel.
So what’s the final verdict on this one?
Without a doubt this is a 5 out of 5 subs library.
Well recorded, enough content to keep the most hungriest beat fiend satisfied.
And the production style is right on the money, you really feel like you’re digging in them old classic soul records we all love, but don’t want to deal with because of sample clearance.
Now you have no excuse, you can still get that soul sound, with enough chopping material so you don’t have to worry about sounding like the next producer.
In my opinion if you love soul samples, there’s absolutely no reason not to check this one out.
As you know, I have this collection available right here on the site in the Motion Samples store
Listen to the demos and check it out.
Leave a comment below and let me know what you think.
This one’s been a long time coming. Motion sent over soultown samples over a month ago, I’m just now getting to it.
Basically, this is for those that still love that sound of hip hop created with samples, chopped up soul and funk or whatever..they way it sounds chopped together.
Motion put together a collection of samples, ready to sample, full with that classic soul sample vibe.
let’s check it out
Soultown Samples? Your personal soul record collection…no clearance needed
You know I love royalty free, so when I got wind of some “soul records” that I could chop up and use without worrying about clearing samples, I get excited.
I often make my own samples by playing out a whole song, with no drums, then I run them through izotope vinyl, then chop them up..no one can ever tell the difference.
But I’m not a musician really, so having a collection of real guitar, keyboard, string, bass, etc players jamming out…then having it edited to sound like old vinyl… I love it.
Check the description:
Still in love with the classic sounds of 70s soul, funk and motown? Then get inspired with this must have collection featuring 250 multi-samples of unforgettable instrument licks for your MPC or software sampler. Inside you’ll find mixed melodies, chords and stabs created with live guitars, bass, rhodes, piano, organ, and many more classic sounds mixed to replicate that dirty old record sound. You can consider this a royalty-free record collection pre-chopped and ready to go. Recommended as a Motion Samples Hip Hop favorite.

Hows the production, and most importantly, how does it sound?
It’s motion man! You know the production is dope…just like they raided the archives of some old defunk soul record company. Everything fits and is well played, has that “texture” you want. I know I heard a few vinyl clicks and pops…even smelled the mildew from some of the vinly record covers….I thought I did.
They jammed out, then chopped those jams into 2-8 parts. The variety is dope, so each samples doesn’t sound the same, you get the chops from one sample, some long some short.
If there’s one suggestion, I’d like to have the shorter chops left together…let me chop em myself. The longer ones are perfect cuz you can take whatever you want.
These aren’t some corny attempts at soul music, I felt like just looping quite a bit and just listening to it lol…but you know I gotta feed Maschine and chop them jonits up!
Quality is on point, well recorded and even though they have an old musty feel, they are still pristine in quality
What’s the bottom line, what’s the final verdict?
Like you really have to guess! Did you watch the video?
These joints are 5 out of 5 subs with no question. Very dope and wonderful for those of us that still like to sample but don’t because we don’t want to mess with clearance issues.
Chopping keyboard and guitar riffs is cool, but choppin these multi samples is very dope!
Like I said, only thing I can suggest, leave the short chops together…other than that…dopeness!
I’ve long told you I’ve been a customer and fan of motion way before I started this website, well since
they’ve been sending over stuff for me to review, it seems they like what we’re doing over here.
They also like the fact that the community here actually become customers….
enough to the point where they are now allowing me to sale their products directly from the site.
Don’t worry, everything is still handled by them, you’re just able to add things to your cart and checkout from here now
I will get a percentage of any sales through this site! That’s awesome!
Hopefully more companies take notice of the community here and see the benefits lol
Anyway…let’s get into it
X-Statik Synths
Yes, more synths…but can you ever get enough? Really?
Motion Samples presents the all new mega collection of Dirty South synths with over 200 selective loops of the latest sounds and melodies for the southern streets.
Inside you’ll find loads of stacked pads, lead hooks, arpeggios, bleeps, whistles, bells, and stabs created with the newest digital synths for that futuristic sound.
If you’re lookin’ for those edgy synth sounds you better jump on this one quick!

Content: 200 individual loops
Format: Wave
Price: $30
What is the production quality and what do they sound like?
Of course motion never comes short on the quality of the sounds as well as the production. These are no different. What did surprise me, as with their Big Boss Sounds, is that even though it says it’s for dirty south music, I find enough variety for all types of urban music from rnb, pop, to even house and downtempo.
Most of the loops I found to be between 2 and 4 bars long, enough to chop up into whatever you want, yet dope enough to loop as is.
The variety again is what I like about this one, as you can hear in the demo, it’s not all the same sounds or styles.
You got fat lead synths, soft leads, some bells, even spaced out synth sounds. Everything from hard to mellow, which is always good.
No clipping, cracking, or any other low budget artifacts are in here, good stuff.
What’s the bottom line?
Bottom line is it’s a good collection of synth sounds with enough variety to keep you busy for a while. The price is pretty average so it keeps it in reach of most people.
I would have liked to see some more loops, hey, I’m greedy…but overall it’s a solid product.
I gave this one a 4 out of 5 subs.
Good quality, good variety, and good price.
If you’re looking for some synths, check the video, listen to the demos and see if this one is for you.
remember you can now get motion samples right here on your favorite site lol.
Today I’m reviewing another sample collection sent over from motionsamples.com
This time we’re gonna sexy it out with some RnB style keys
What are R&B Soul Delite Keys?
Well, I’m glad you asked yo! According to the website:
Motion Samples presents an extraordinary collection of R&B’s finest ep, rhodes, piano and keyboard melodies with over 200 extended loops mixed down with Eventide processors for the perfect reverbs, delays and fx.
Never before have we offered so many melody ideas in one collection presenting great musicianship and soulful warm keyboard tones that will inspire you endlessly.
Highly recommended for R&B songwriters and producers.
That’s all fine and good, but what do they sound like? What about variety?
They sound amazing, the loops are rather long so it gives you a lot to work with.
But they production is where it stands out, they really went in on the style of play in this collection.
There are tons of variations in the typical R&B styles. Everything from R&B bangers, to ballads, to soulful hip hop and even a lil pop.
You can do whatever you want with these and the musicianship is second to none.
I was definitely impressed with the variation from loop to loop and I didn’t get board at all, each loop felt like it could become it’s own song.
Sound quality was on point as usual, no clipping or distortion, not too loud so you have headroom to put them in your own mixes.
Okay, so what about the value on this collection? Will it break the bank?
The short answer is NO. It comes in right at 40 bucks even, keeping it in the average price range for most pro level sample paks.
It’s still less than a full sample cd but don’t let that stop you, the quality and variety in this collection is well worth the price of admission.
Especially if you’re looking to get that smoother side of the R&B or Hip Hop into your tracks. The only way to even attempt to have some riffs and chops like this, is sampling from some of your favorite records, or hiring a keyboard player.
There is just no faking your way through a sound like this, very detailed and distinct, you really feel like just taking the loops as is, no chops, and building a song.
So what’s the final verdict?
Straight up, no question, without a doubt, 5 out of 5 subs. Period. End of discussion.
A producer will be busy for months using these loops, like I said, each one is practically a song/track waiting to happen. The 200 loops are NOT variations of the same loop, in most cases each loop is a completely different idea, I really like that.
Instead of 4-10 variations of the same loop or riff, you get 200 different ideas to mess with.
This raises the stock in addition to the fact that the loops themselves are long, 4-8 bars or so, and very well produced.
It’s no question motinsamples aims to be a major player in the sample pack game for a long time…I’ve yet to come across anything form them I didn’t like, or would improve or do differently.
That says a lot.
So the next time you’re looking to sexy out your tracks, make sure you checkout the soul delite keys, trust me, you’ll love em.
leave me a comment below, let me know what you think.
Matter of fact, let me know what you think of motionsamples period. I’ve seen a few of you go over and make purchases after these reviews, let me know what you got and if they lived up to the hype.
If you have any ideas or things you’d like to see, put that down…as I’m sure motionsamples will take a look.
Today we are looking at their hip hop organs and pianos pack.
When they first sent it to me, I assumed it would be a bunch of underground keyboard riffs…
let’s see whatsup.
Mo Keys Please….
I’m a firm believer that you can never have too many piano, organ, clavi, basically any type of keys. Never too many.
Let’s see what’s in this set:
Over 200 loops of Hip Hop piano and organ melodies recorded live and from outboard keyboards.
Whether you’re a samplehead or not so great keyboardist, this original collection offers endless cold hooks and chords to sample from or drop into your beats.
This is an unregretful collection for the truest east and west coast Hip Hop producers
Is there a good variety of styles?
I liked the variety, it was surprising. Like I said, I assumed it would be full of underground hip hop stuff but it wasn’t.
There were some riffs in here that were pretty sexy, and even some stuff that reminded me of that down south FUNK.
You know, that Dungeon Family, Eightball & MJG type stuff…don’t tell me you don’t know about that?
That’s the SOUF before the “new dirty south” sound. You can still find it, just not on the radio as much.
Anyway, point being there is plenty of variety that everyone will be able to find something to use.
NY, LA, ATL, NO, wherever you be…you can use something in here.
Production quality and sound?
I don’ t know why I do this for motion, but I guess I have to let ya know lol. If you don’t realize it by now, motion puts out very good quality recordings.
The samples are never distorted, unless on purpose, and they are never clipping or anything like that.
Also, the production styles and instrumentation is on point as usual, they are not your generically played riffs, these joints are intricate, you can tell they got some really good keyboardists to lay these down.
How about the price?
They have this set priced good, right at 30 bucks.
Not the average sample pack price, it’s a little lower, but not too low to where you naturally question the quality, it’s sitting just right….
This keeps it in the budget and range for many people, and even if you’re only purchasing one pack a month, there is enough in here to keep you busy, with enough variety to keep you interested.
What’s the bottom line? What’s the rating?
This was a good, useful, inspiring collection. It seems everyone has their own idea of what a good piano or organ sounds like when it comes to hip hop and urban music.
Luckily for us, motion doesn’t force it’s own agenda here, they give you enough variation to please even the toughest critic… I’m from the midwest, so it’s a melting pot of various styles, and I love it all.
I gave this a 4 out of 5 subs.
It was a solid collection, nothing I’d feel bad recommending to my closest buddies, and a nice weapon to have in any producer’s arsenal.
This was a good collection of keys, and if you’re like me and you’re always looking for some dope key riffs, you just may find them in this collection.
We back with another sample collection from motionsamples
Today we are checking out their Hip Hop Horns collection.
I’ll admit, when I usually get a horn sample library, it’s pretty…uhh…wack.
So I didn’t know what to expect going in, especially it being hip hop focused.
Is it just a bunch of dirty south stuff? The demo didn’t make me think that…
They sent over this horn collection for review, let’s just find out what’s good!
Whatup with the horns?
Well I’ll just let motion tell ya what they are…
This original collection of synthetic horn loops is great for droppin’ those big hooks on top of your beats! It contains 120 loops of non stop bangin’ horns played in funky, motown, and orchestral styles. Why sample from the oldies when you can have that classic sound without having to get clearance. Beatmakers beware, you’re gonna eat this one up…
“Hip Hop” horns? How much variety is there?
Surprisingly there is quite a bit. You’d think there would be a lot of overlap in 120 hip hop horn loops but there isn’t.
You’ve got the bangers, the dirty south anthems, the smooth jazzy stuff, and some straight up NY funk.
I was definitely surprised at the diversity of the collection. You can really find some nice foundations for your next track.
How is the sound and production of the samples? What’s the quality?
As always, I’ve never been disappointed with motion’s quality.
The actual production is dope, the riffs are NOT corny, they are top notch productions. I found myself just listening to the riffs and wanting to just loop them!
Sometimes that’s a good thing lol. But there’s enough in the loops to chop them up as well. There are no over processed samples, no distortion ( unless on purpose) and no clipping.
The production is definitely high quality.
What about the price? Will it break the bank?
One of our members on the site suggested I should make mention of the prices on some of these things to better save you time when I”m reviewing.
I try to review stuff from all different pricepoints so I never made it a point to talk about price unless I specifically thought I needed to.
However, I’m all about helping each and every one of ya, so if it saves you from wasting time checking out things that aren’t in your budget, then I’m all for it!
Anyway.
For $25 bucks, I really don’t see how you can go wrong with this one. The price puts these sounds in the reach of most people, and for what you get I actually think it’s a little low.
I’ve purchased sample collections from a lot of places, some almost double or triple this price, and they weren’t as good or well produced.
I definitely think this is a great value.
So what’s the bottom line, how many subs we talkin here?
This joint was well produced, well recorded, and diverse. It was a lot better than I anticipated, I assumed I would give it an above average score, about 3.5 or 4 subs.
But after I went through it and played with it, I had to give it 5 subs, it was really good, I mean really good.
I have to keep it real yall, I was seriously thinking it would be “good” or “pretty good” which would give it about 3.5 subs…not average, but not great.
These are great. And the price is right too.
So let me know what ya think. Leave me a comment below.
Also let me know if you like the new format of commenting on the price, if you think it should be included and if it helps you save time.
Once again we are back with some more samples for ya.
This time, I’m checking out a company that I’ve been a customer of for a while. I was a customer when they first started selling samples on eBay and now they’ve turned into one of the premiere sample providers online today.
Motion Samples provides high quality drums, loops, riffs, and loops for urban, hip hop, pop, trance, electro and even tv/film.
I have stuff in my collection I constantly go to from them, stuff you can’t even get anymore lol…the classics.
But today, we are checking out one of their top selling libraries…. they sent over Big Boss Sounds for me to checkout.
You wanna sound like a Boss…
Big Boss sounds is a collection of various different instruments and riffs layered, full production style, and sliced up ready to be put together.
“Make way for Big Boss Sounds comin’ at you with over 250 colossal multi-samples of stab chords, horns, orchestra hits, retro synth hooks, piano licks, dirty organs and tons more. Just arrange these sounds in your favorite sampler then trigger away to make massive dirty south melodies on the fly!”
What’s in there? I’m not a dirty south producer…
I’m not a big dirty south style of producer, but I’ve been known to throw something together that could be classified in that genre. I was a little worried that these samples would force me to make music that isn’t really my style.
To my surprise it wasn’t full of lil john melodies and solja boy blips….this is MUSIC man.
This is definitely NOT only for dirty south, there are strings, brass, synths, organs, pianos, electric pianos, and more…and the styles that are played are ready to be chopped, sliced, and re-purposed into everything from dirty south, to club bangers, and even your next sexy rnb joint.
They are versatile…I was pleasantly surprised.
What about the sound quality?
One thing I’ve always loved about motion samples is their sound quality, bottom line, I have NEVER heard anything from them that isn’t production ready.
I’ve purchased everything from drums, to keys, to guitars, and they all sound superb.
The sound quality is where you want it to be, you KNOW I don’t play when it comes to quality
So what is the bottom line on Big Boss Sounds?
Bottom line for me is, I was expecting to have to deduct a few points for being forced to sound like lil john or solja boy…
Instead, these sounds can be used for any type of style or music, and I love not being boxed in.
I have to give this collection a 4.5 out of 5 subs…it’s that good, that versatile, and that BANGIN.
I am definitely looking forward to sharing a bit more about motion and their library with you, I’m always one that looks for
diversity, so having choices in samples, and being able to KNOW you’ll get quality for the money you spend is crazy.
Speaking of money you’ll spend
Another thing I like about motion samples is the price. This super ill collection of Big Boss Sounds is only like 20 bucks…
I don’t care who you are, 20 bucks is 20 bucks and being able to improve your sound collection for such a small amount is lovely.
Go ahead….click the banner below to go on over and get some motion samples in ya life yo
Make sure you tell me what you think, these companies read the reviews so keep the opinions coming.
If you buy something from them, let me know what you get….I can definitely recommend Big Boss Sounds… great way to spend a 20.
