FatLoud Black and Gold sample pack raises the bar for sample companies

Aight, so…we love fatloud around here, they are definitely one of the companies I respect, and enjoy.

A majority of their collections where either singular sound packs or construction kits…..and yall know how I do my construction kits.

I like stuff to be in it’s own folder based on sound…not construction kits.

Fatlout put out “After Hours” a free sample pack that crushed many other packs companies try to sell.  And they did it the way I like it…

Sounds were in category folders instead of construction kits. So you had folders for synths, strings, keys, bass, etc.

I loved it…and I constantly pestered Paul over at Fatloud, let him know that people want packs like this…many producers miss a lot of dope sounds because they just don’t look at construction kits.

If you organize sounds in a way that doesn’t force the producers hand, you’ll sale more….I’m willing to bet that this new Black and Gold collection is breaking records for sales at Fatloud…it’s what the people want!

So what is Black & Gold?

Black and Gold is the first pack in the new XL series from Fatloud.  The XL series is basically what I said above, instead of construction kits, sounds are organized by type into folders.

I really love this format, and I organize all my sounds this way.

Whenever I get new construction kit formatted sounds, I remove everything from the folders BEFORE I listen to it…and put them in folders based on sound.

I don’t want to be forced into making a track that sounds like the construction kit…so I mix it all up.

I know tons of producers and beat makers who think the same way, some won’t even mess with construction kits.

Being able to buy a collection of sounds, that are organized by sound type…is a dream come true for many beat makers.

Fatloud came out with all guns blazin on their first of hopefully many in the XL series.

Quick Specs

  • Contents: 400+ loops, riffs and one shot samples
  • Format: wav, acid, aiff, apple loops, rex 2, reason refill
  • Price: 32.90 euro about $47

How does it sound?

Dope!

Honestly, each folder in this collection could stand on it’s own as a mini sample collection. The strings are nice, the keys, synths, everything has that Fatloud edge we’ve come to expect.  All they do is urban music, and it shows.

The production and variety of the sounds in here is definitely inspiring and will keep you busy for days.

I feel like each loop is a new track waiting to happen, there’s not a bunch of repeats and it feels like everything was made to stand on it’s own…it just doesn’t feel like a construction kit.

Not unwanted clicks, pops, or hisses are present…keeping everything tight, clean, and ready to use.

The sound is very “now” if that makes any sense.  You can definitely tell they love the music they produce, and they definitely have no intentions of allowing any “filler” to make it’s way into their collections.

So what’s the final verdict?

without a doubt, no question, you should already know why are you even asking me……

5 out of 5 subs.  This collection is setting a new standard, and I really hope other companies take note.

Many beatmakers would get a lot more sounds from you if you put your stuff in category format instead of construction loops.

To many beatmakers and producers…construction kit = “premade beats”.

I hope to see MANY MANY more in the XL series from Fatloud….and honestly, I hope to see some of my other favorite companies take notes and put out products in this format in addition to their construction kit format.

FatLoud After Hours sample pack review

Yes yes yall, it’s time for another review.

Back again with another sample pack from the folks over at fatloud.com, you know we like them around here.

They have quite a few that I haven’t had a chance to review for ya yet, but I wanted to do this one, you’ll soon see why.

afterhoursMakin beats After Hours…

Like everything from FatLoud, this pack is dedicated to urban, hip hop, r&b music styles..that’s all they do, and they do it well.

I really liked the way they organized the samples in this one, it’s different from their usual construciton kit format, more inline with how I like to do things.

Every type of sound is in it’s own folder for easy browsing.

Quick specs:

  • Content: 189 24 bit drum, instrument, hit, chords, and loops
  • Format: wav, acid, aiff, apple, rex, refill 4.0,
  • Price: FREE!!!

How is the sound quality and production?

soundFatLoud always brings it raw, they have a very clean, tightly produced sound to all of their sample packs, this one is no exception.

The synths pop, and the production styles are current, useful, and inspiring.  You don’t get bored with the sounds, and you can find something for pretty much any style of urban music you are making.

The drums knock, the strings are silky smooth, and the keys are raw.

No clicks, pops, hisses, or any of that crazy stuff you get with low budget companies…these are professional samples and you can hear it.

What’s the bottom line?

I love everything about this collection, when I got my hands on it I didn’t know what to expect but was definitely floored at the quality of it.

The fact that this is free is amazing, it’s better than many collections you have to pay for…dead serious.  I could have just posted this up with the rest of the free sites I did, but I wanted to review this one specifically, because it was a full sample pack of professional quality being given away for free.

This isn’t just a demo, it’s something you wouldn’t mind paying for.

4andhalfsubsI give this collection a 4.5 out of 5 subs. You may wonder why I didn’t give it a five….well, because I wanted more lol. I know it’s greedy, but this collection was really good and I just wish it contained a little bit more content…

I definitely like the organization of this collection and I hope the guys over at fatloud continue to create products in a similar style.

Fatloud Club Synth Samples Review

It’s that time for another review, soundhounds unite!

Today I’m checking out a company that is new to me, gotta love social media.

I found out about them on twitter, their name is Fatloud.com

When I first went to the site I was impressed with the look, then I heard the demos, had to get my hands on them!

We are checking out their “Club Synth” collection that they sent me to review today…so let’s get into it.

What’s up with ANOTHER Club Synth sample kit?

ClubSynthWell, I feel you can never have too many synths!

And like I said, the design on their site was sexy so I had to check it out, the demos seemed to be pretty good as well.

In this one you get over 100 royalty-free sounds, and they come in wav and rex format.

Upon first listen, I notice the quality of the sounds, always a good thing, especially for my first experience with a company.

How does it sound?

Sexy!

Real talk man, I’m a sucker for a well produced sound library and this one is up there.

There is no hint of distortion anywhere to be found, unless of course, it’s a distorted synth!

The production isn’t stale or robotic and it actually sounds like something a producer would be making for their own tracks.

Meaning they have feeling and not just a bunch of arpeggiated notes stuck together.

What about the variety?

The variety is just as good as the sound quality.

There are tons of different styles that will work for pretty much everyone.

They are long enough to chop up, but dope enough to loop as is.

Of course you know I love to chop so that’s what I did.

There are skinny piercing leads, fluffy lush pads, and dirty club drones all mixed in this lil package.

This is definitely a keeper.

So what’s the final verdict? Should You get it?

I say, if you’re a soundhound like me, and I think you are, you’ll want to checkout the noise going on over at fatloud.com

The sounds are quality, the variety is top-notch and I’m expecting big things from them.

4andhalfsubsI gave them a 4.5/5 subs on this collection, I really think it’s a great one to have in your arsenal.

I love to have a choice, and I love options.

For a while, it seemed like there were only two or three companies to get sounds from, but as I continue to explore, I continue to find folks like fatloud out there.

There are some gems to be had out here folks, audio fanatics rejoice with me!

And while you’re in a good mood go on over and checkout fatloud.com
