Stretch That Note DruMM library for Kontakt review

47

Hey what’s good fam, hope you’re enjoying your holiday season!

Today I’m doing a drum library review for ya!

I usually haven’t been focusing on straight drum samples recently but these are different.

It’s an actual custom Kontakt interface dedicated to hard/urban drum sounds, you know I had to show it to ya!

let’s check it!

So what is DruMM?

It’s basically a series of dedicated drum modules for Kontakt geared towards urban and electronic music.

Mostly dirty urban music in my opinion

The concept behind the modules is to provide you quick access to fx and parameters that you would use on your drums, without having to load up various plugins and fx modules.

Everything is on the front panel and ready to go.

Also, these modules are designed to be layered together as well. Samplecraze aka Zukan..the guy behind the company, is also a great engineer as well.

He applied some mid-side processing, phase cancellation, polarity inverting, and other sorts of audio nijitsu to the drums so they they all layer perfectly together with no artifacts or distortion (unless you want to add some distortion!)

This makes created thick drum sounds very easy and quick to tweak

Quick Specs

  • format: kontakt (full version
  • price: $8 per module or $40 for all 6

How do they sound?

The individual drum sounds themselves are well recorded and cleanly mixed…unless made dirty on purpose.

The sound have the thump and snap many of us look for.

However my big deal with this library is how you can layer and tweak the sounds.

Having control over ambiance, fatness, crunch, even vinyl noise as well as filter and envelope settings right on the front panel is dopeness.

When you start layering them together, man, that’s when they really start to stand out.

The way the drums mix together is just plain great man, no unwanted artifacts, just pure thick drum sounds.

What’s the bottom line?

This is the first time I’ve seen a dedicated urban drum module for Kontakt

The price per module is more than fair, and for the whole collection, I’ve definitely seen drum libraries that cost way more

I give this library 4.5 out of 5 subs. The ease with which you can mix, match, layer, and effect your drums makes it a great tool to have for anyone using Kontakt.

Bottom line, go download the free kit:ย http://stretchthatnote.com/catalog/drums

Then get your own copy!

  1. A worthwhile purchase at $40, especially when you take into account the flexibility offered. Thanks for shedding light on this, however…you know this is messing with my Rolodecks/Sonic Couture support fund right? Because a beat is a terrible thing to waste..

  2. On a more technical note, 1) how was the CPU hit when layering 2) how’s the note mapping in Maschine with or without layering or did you find it more efficient to layer sounds via the pads in Maschine?

    • @julius, do know the song or what the producer used for it, but you can probably make something similar with a lot of different plugins. Most let you layer and stack stuff so you can get whatever sound you want.
