Sample Logic Thunder Springs review

10

Hey what’s up fam!

I’m back with another new release from Sample Logic, seems these guys are on a rampage lately!

Today I’m checking out Thunder Springs…so let’s go!

What is Thunder Springs?

thunderspringsIf you don’t know what a thunder tube or a spring drum is don’t worry, you’re not alone!

I don’t either, but evidently these are cinematic style instruments known for their monster sound.

Well, that’s the inspiration and “base” content for the library, but you know how Sample Logic is!

This library takes those sounds and morphs them into ambience, rhythm, arps, transitions, kits, and more.

Oh and you also get the regular thunder tubes and spring drums to play.

Quick Specs

So how does it sound?

Reel to Reel Tape RecorderWell, the first thing I went to was the ambience folder, you know I love a nice ambient sound!

There’s plenty here, and they aren’t just simple sounds either, there’s quite a bit of complexity, texture, and layering going on.

Of course you also get instant tweaking with the interface which allows you to quickly take the sounds in your own direction.

With the kits, impacts, transitions, arps, and rhythms, you definitely get a very deep and instantly usable library.

The overall feel of this library is a bit more smooth and melodic in my opinion, not quite as “edgy” as some of the other libraries and I love that as I feel it makes it more versatile.

In general you get that Sample Logic style of sound design in a way that allows you to use the content in a variety of settings and not just “blockbuster” style music or themes.

So what’s the bottom line?

The bottom line is Sample Logic has not failed to deliver some great content here.

You get the sexy interface, tons of content, and instant tweaking that really makes their instruments a joy to use.

5subsI give Thunder Springs 5 out of 5 subs, I think it’s a great product, fun, and affordable which allows everyone to step into the world of Sample Logic

I’ve got to mention the price again as I think that’s also a huge benefit of this library.

At $99 bucks, it allows those that may not have the budget for their larger instruments a chance to get the full Sample Logic experience at a very competitive price point.

I think for anyone that hasn’t had the pleasure of owning a Sample Logic library in the past, this is a great way to get in and see really what they are about…I will tell you to proceed with a bit of caution though, as once you experience the audio goodness that comes out of the Sample Logic bunker…..you’ll be hooked.

But either way, just go pick this up, it’s not a Kontakt player library so you will need the full version, but trust me, this thing is awesome.

  1. I like it.
    And I like the price.
Not new and startling … but some interesting and solid sounds. And of course quality.
Think I am going to have to cop one of these.
    Peace,
    Al

  2. Well, I love this package, but I just wish it would be available on Kontakt 5 Player as well. Now I have to get the NI Upgrade just to run this, so it ends up costing around $225 instead of $99.

    Oh drat!
