Review: Soundiron Mercury Elements

4

Hey what’s good fam?

Back with another review from Soundiron’s “Elements” series, this one is another choir.

Let’s just dig in and check it out

What is Mercury Elements?

Mercury_Elements_3D_Box_05_1024x1024This is a version of their Mercury Symphonic Boys Choir library that contains essential elements and a single mic position.

So if you don’t need all the phrases and all the various elements with multiple mic positions, yet you still want a great sounding boys choir, this is something for you.

It uses the close mic position and has plenty of elements from sustains and legatos, to staccatos, vowels and phrases, as well as ambient fx all in a Kontakt Player interface that’s easy to use.

You can adjust EQ, reverb, legato, as well as settings for attack, release, swells, and offset.

It gives you enough control to adjust as needed, but not too many options for those that don’t need to tweak every single detail.

Quick Specs

How does it sound?

Reel to Reel Tape RecorderIf you’ve heard any choir from Soundiron before, then you know this is a quality library.

It has a very lush, full, realistic sound and I love the way they include ambiences along with the traditional choir patches.

This makes it useful not only for choir but sound design and pad/textures as well.

There’s even an option in the interface to turn any patch into a pad, which is pretty cool.

Overall the sound is what you’d expect, and though it’s a collection of essential elements and a single mic position, the quality is the same as the full version.

So what’s the bottom line?

As I said before, I love the elements or “essential” series they do, as it brings their high end libraries within the reach of those that don’t need to go full out on a choir or other library.

Yet you still get the quality and attention to detail that makes their libraries so desirable in the first place.

It’s one thing to get a “small” version that doesn’t sound quite as good, but these guys give you the same quality sound, just with fewer options…and let’s be honest, many times you just want something simple like a sustain, legato, or staccato choir.

4subsI give Mercury Elements 4 out of 5 subs, it’s sounds great, is easy to use, and is an affordable way to add a high quality choir in your toolbox.

Go on over and check it out
