So what is Evolution Strawberry?
This is a very detailed electric guitar instrument with a super flexible Kontakt scripting engine called “Evolution”.
It allows you to tweak every parameter from picking style, to pick location, pickup, strumming, automatic chord recognition/translation, tracking (double, triple, quad), modeling fx, and more.
The pure tone of the library is nice, but the engine takes it to another level in terms of customization.
If you’re actually a guitar player you’ll feel right at home with the amount of things you can tweak, however if you’re like me, a non guitar player, you’ll still be fine tweaking and using your ears to find what you like!

How does it sound?
I’ve been a fan of Orange Tree for years, and I’ve been a fan of this particular guitar for a very long time. I’ve seen it from its beginning to its current state and it’s only gotten better!
The default tone of the guitar is nice, and you could quickly come up with something amazing just messing with the various options, I love to turn on double tracking for example.
Run that through your favorite guitar fx and you’re good to go!
Once you start messing with the engine that’s where it gets super fun, the built in fx are modeled and include impulses from some of the most popular guitar fx around…you can fully customize your tone directly within the interface with no external plugins or fx needed.
Not to mention all the control you have over the playback and response, plus the chord and strumming engines…just pure fun.
Oh, and if you don’t want to deal with all of that, just load up the snapshots, they are organized into clean, crunch, and distorted categories and they sound super dope!
So what’s the bottom line?
It’s no secret, I love this guitar, it’s remained a staple for me and I really enjoy the sound I can get from it without a bunch of keyswitches or even actual understanding of playing a guitar.
The chord recognition is really cool because you can play it like a keyboard yet it will be voiced like a guitar.
Mix that with the strumming keys as well as strumming patterns and you can come up with some really cool stuff.
Overall I give Evolution Strawberry 4.5 out of 5 subs, it sounds amazing, is easy to use, and included incredible fx so no need for extra plugins or pedals to get a good sound.
I did find some of the screens to be a bit small, especially when tweaking things like the chords and strumming patterns. Personal taste of course but it could get a little fiddly at times.
I’m sure there will be purists who say “you can never replace a real guitar” well that’s fine and everyone is entitled to their opinion, what I will say, is that this is a great sounding guitar instrument and I really dig what I can get out of it.
