Review of Geosonics from Soniccouture

Hey what’s good everyone!

I’m back with a new library from another one of my favorite developers…Soniccouture!

This is a new ambient, soundscape, pad type library based on field recordings of natural elements.

You know this is right up my alley

let’s check it out!

So what is Geosonics?

geosonicsSo they worked with field recordist Chris Watson (look him up) and they took some really awesome natural sounds, put them into Kontakt, and turned them into instruments.

But you know Soniccouture doesn’t just do simple playback, they made it very easy to tweak, sculpt, and manipulate the sounds into your own creations.

They took the raw data and made new sounds, waves, and sound design elements, then gave you a way to layer them with the original samples.

So if you are an ambient pad lover like me, and really into organic soundscapes, this is something you want to look into.

Quick specs:

How does it sound?

Reel to Reel Tape RecorderThere is really no way to explain this other than awesome!

I’m a pad lover, I love ambient sounds, smooth airy soundscapes make me smile.

The raw data in this library is just plain great, I mean seriously, who wouldn’t love to play with frogs, bats, insects, water, ice, wind, wires, and other random sounds?

They way they allow you to work with the samples, layering them with pitched material, and turning these natural sounds into instruments is really cool.

The recordings themselves are top-notch, the sound design is spot-on, and the interface encourages you to experiment with all types of audio goodies.

The sound is lush, it’s airy, it’s experimental…man it sound good!

So what’s the bottom line?

If you like pads…get it! If you like ambient sounds and soundbeds….get this! If you like coming up with new organic soundscapes….GET THIS!

Look, it’s evident I’m in love with this, but anyone who’s been around here for any amount of time knows I love sounds like this.

5subsI give Geosonics 5 out of 5 subs, it sounds great, the concept is fresh, the interface is simple but deep, and the library sparks your creativity.

Go checkout their demos, read the information behind the making of the library, watch the interviews with Chris Watson, the guy that did all the recordings from remote corners of the Earth…and tell me you don’t love it like I do.

  1. Ooo, this is so tempting but I’ll exercise some control and patience. Their new vibraphone instrument sounds lovely if you’d ever like to get your Milt Jackson or Lionel Hampton swing on. Yup another two for the wishlist.
