ProjectSAM ORCHESTRATOR review

12

Hey what’s up fam!

Today I’m checking out a new product from ProjectSAM

This is from their new Symphobia Colours series, the product is called “ORCHESTRATOR”

Let’s check it out!

So what is ORCHESTRATOR?

ProjectSAMOrchestratorThe Symphobia Colours series is a new collection of smaller libraries made up of fresh sounds that are meant to expand the Symphobia toolbox.

However, you do not need the larger Symphobia products to use these libraries, they are complete products aimed at a specific use.

The whole idea behind ORCHESTRATOR is to provide you with orchestral ensemble chords with real legato transitions.

It’s a very focused library intended to do one thing, give you access to great sound orchestral chords while sounding great doing it.

You know I love stuff like this, especially when talking about lush chords and octaves.

Quick Specs

So how does it sound?

Reel to Reel Tape RecorderSeriously? This is ProjectSAM, it sounds like an orchestra ๐Ÿ™‚

OK, let’s be serious, it does sound great, I love how the ensembles sound and the fact that you can quickly play authentic sounding Major and Minor chords is definitely exciting.

The legato transitions make moving between chords sound very smooth, and I even went as far as turning the legato volume down all the way just to get an even more drastic idea of what the legato transitions add to the sound.

It’s very easy to change the sound using the mic settings as well as crossfading between close/stage position. You can also adjust reverb and the limiter to your own tastes.

I find there isn’t much tweaking needed for myself as I really enjoy the sound of them but of course you can adjust or add your own fx as needed.

Dynamic are controlled by the modwheel which allows you to quickly adjust the amplitude of the sound for a more intimate or robust tone.

Overall it sound exactly how I expect, lush and authentic. Some of the multis are really cool as well, especially when layering sounds from the different ensembles.

So what’s the bottom line?

Of course ProjectSAM knows exactly what they set out to do, and they accomplish it.

If you’re looking for quickly accessible legato orchestral chords, this is definitely something worth looking into.

4andhalfsubsI give ORCHESTRATOR 4.5 out of 5 subs, it sounds amazing, is super easy to use, and it can stand on it’s own or blend in with other products from the Symphobia family.

It is well known that products like this are aimed at film scoring, cinematic production, and orchestration, however I find them to be perfectly at home in contemporary music production as well.

I don’t score films or anything of the sort, but I love using full, rich, authentic tones in my own productions and ORCHESTRATOR allows you to do that in a way that doesn’t require a lot of key-switching or programming to sound great.

I’m definitely excited to see what else they will release in this series of small and powerful libraries.

  1. Hey saint Joe thanks for always giving us a good review on products. I notice that you kept hitting a buttons on your keyboard before changing instrument. What exactly does that do? Thanks and keep up the great work.
