Patchbanks Soul Soup Classic 70’s Soul library review

66

Yo what’s good fam, I’m back with another soundhound for ya!

This time taking it back to the crates with the soul/funk sound.

Another library from Patchbanks.com, this one is all about the soul

So let’s checkout Soul Soup

What is Soul Soup?

This is a collection of 40 royalty-free ORIGINAL vintage soul styled compositions.

This isn’t a loop library, it’s like a mini collection of rare samples.

The loops are anywhere from 20-30 seconds each, all recorded with classic instruments to give it the proper soul sound.

This is a crate diggers dream come true

Quick Specs

How does it sound?

It sounds like a secret stash of funk and soul records that you found in your grandma’s attic next to a portable record player.

You get mixes with guitar, piano, ep, organs, bass, vibes, etc.

All the samples are played in a very vintage fashion, not like new school trying to be old, but def has that “man that’s a dope groove” sound to it.

The recordings are pristine, despite the fact that they are dripping with vintage funk and dirt.

They are long samples, so you can spend time making multiple beats just from one of them…similar to how you would with a song or record.

Having 40 of them is dope, because while they have the same feel, they don’t have the same sound, so it’s really a deep variety.

Basically, it sounds like you’d expect, and it sounds like it should.

What’s the bottom line?

If you like soul/funk sampling, get it, that’s the bottom line.

Not much else needs to be said, the sounds and samples speak for themselves.

I give this library 4.5 out of 5 subs, it delivers on all fronts, the only thing I can think of is adding about 10 more samples, but that’s just me being greedy!

I also love the fact that they are totally royalty free….no attribution or anything required.

Go check em out, better yet, if you like to chop stuff up, just go get these joints, for real.

  1. Once again good review. That beat you made was really hot. Are the parts seperated (keys, bass etc.,) or are they all in one wav file?

  3. When I saw the cover art on the Facebook post I had a feeling this was gonna be good. Looks like a vintage Library record cover. Really nice sounds, has that same quality as Motion’s Soultown joints, sounding like actual record jacks. Definitely getting this, thanks for the review and turning us me on to another sound company I didn’t know about.

    • @Metatron72, I knew you’d be out for this! And, you missed my last couple posts about this company. It’s the same production team that used to work for motion, they work with patchbanks now ๐Ÿ™‚ Same quality, that’s why it sounds like it. It’s dope!

  6. Nice Review Homie I normally dont like to share samples But then I thought to myslef producing is like ” rap is an art and no one can own a loop , its how you hook em up in those beats , beats , beats ” – GURU R.I.P. So no doubt clean samples without having to digg at every thrift store or online sites mos def the $$ in time alone. Are those real live soul band chops from the 70’s with clearance already done ? or made from an current 2011 soul player ? either way its dope with no royalites to worry about. Again Nice review every time I see ya reviews I feel like the joker in Batman saying ” Where does he get those wonderful toys.. ” lol Keep em coming Fam – Dro Fontaine Muzick (www.digitalmuzick.yolasite.com)
