Orange Tree Samples TinyBox music box library review

0

Hey what’s good fam!

Back with another review, checking out a product from one of my go to companies for authentic sounding instruments.

Today I want to show you the TinyBox from Orange Tree Samples

Let’s peep it!

So what is TinyBox?

boxshot_tinyboxWell as you may or may not have guessed, it’s a music box library for Kontakt.

As with all Orange Tree products, this music box is deeply sampled and programmed to give you a great sound with minimal fuss.

It’s based on a 15 tone music box, which yields roughly 3 octaves of notes.

He also included a “dirty” version which emulates mechanical noises that occur while a music box is playing.

You get the tuned version and untuned version, both clean and dirty.

And as usual, you get some settings that allow you to tweak the sound quickly

So how does it sound?

Reel to Reel Tape RecorderMan, you guys know by now I’m a HUGE music box fan, so I’m always looking for great sounding music boxes.

I expected nothing less than a realistic sounding instrument from Orange Tree, and that’s exactly what you get.

The tone is nice, bright, and natural sounding, with the addition of the voice options  you can really give the instrument a bold sound.

I also like the use of pre-roll which delays the attack a bit for a more natural sound when striking the keys.

You can also adjust the width and even offset the playing of the separate voices for some cool double and triple strike effects.

It’s a simple instrument but it sounds great!

So what’s the bottom line?

Well if you dig music boxes like I do, then you’ll definitely want to check this out.

4subsI give TinyBox 4 out of 5 subs, it’s a straight forward instrument that sounds fantastic and has just enough options to tweak without being overloaded.

At a price of 20 bucks I say it’s a must have for anyone that likes the sound of a good music box.

It’s useful in everything from R&B, Pop, and Hip Hop, to horror scores and cinematic music.

Good stuff, go check it out: http://orangetreesamples.com/tinybox
