Got another review here for ya, back with another novaloops sample pack.
Last time we checked out their NYC Hood Anthems Chopped Loops Set, today we are looking at some more traditional loops, the everlasting rhodes baby.
I love a good rhodes sound no matter if it’s loops, licks, or just a good sampled rhode I can play out on the keys.
They sent over their Roots Rhodes collection, let’s see what’s good.
So what’s at the root of these rhode loops?
Nova Loops brings you Roots Rhode Loops. Containing 606 WAV, APPLE, and REX loops in the style of The Roots, Talib Kweli, Musiq Soulchild, and Usher.
Mix and match loops, change tempos and keys with ease.
These loops are perfect for your RnB and Hip Hop Productions.
Add that fat bed of sound that only the rhodes can provide under your next hit track.
ANOTHER rhodes collection? Are they good?
Yes ANOTHER rhodes collection, you can never have to many I think lol.
Good thing is, most producers/companies have their own take on rhodes. Some keep it safe and play pretty simple progressions to let you put together a little more, while others really go all out and give you some dope riffs.
That’s what we have here, some very dope riffs. These samples are well played, and well recorded.
I found myself wanting to just use the loops as they are for the foundation of a track, they are really well put together, whoever played these keys has some skills.
But what about variety and quality? What do they sound like?
The quality is on point. Well recorded, no clipping, no distortion, no over compression.
The variety, well, I’m not really sure how to put this. There are tons of different riffs and styles, but at the end of the day, it’s a rhodes lol.
You know, with a synth pack, you can get a lot of variety, or even with other instruments. But a rhode is a rhode.
However the variety is still there with the styles and riffs that were played, so it’s all good.
Okay, what about the price man, what they cost?
The price is actually very reasonable, you get about 600 or so loops for 29 bucks, not bad.
I’ve been buying samples for so long, I already have a pretty common price scale in my head.
Most sample packs and companies you find online will run around 47-50 bucks, which is pretty common.
20-30 bucks and you’re getting into some good pricing.
Sample cds usually start around 99 bucks and then vsts/instrument libraries go up from there.
This collection falls a little in the budget price range which is great, especially for a quality collection.
Folks used to purchasing those $50 packs will always welcome a nice price drop once in a while.
So how many subs we talkin bro?
This is a quality collection of very nice played rhodes loops.
I’m going to have to give these a 4 out of 5 subs, they are a great collection that anybody with a love for smooth keys will love.
The price is a little below the average sample pack price which makes it even better.

I’m not sure what you mean by counting in on the first bar. You have to set you loop size for the clip, then press play on the clip, it will count in for you. The bar menu will be orange while it counts in and it will be going backwards.

that’s it man. make sure you have the metronome on and you have overdub turned on. Then you just arm the track and press play on one of the clips. The top where it shows your bars, it should turn orange for a lil while until it’s recording.
