MKSensation digital piano library review

6

Hey what’s good fam, hope you had a great week, it’s Friday so you know what time it is!

Time for some Big Fish!

Today I’m checking out the latest Kontakt library from Gospel Musicians called the MKSensation

Let’s check it out

mksensation

So what is MKSensation?

This is a dedicated Kontakt library based on the digital piano/ep module from Roland, the MKS-20

This was and is a popular module in the RnB and Gospel music realm and many people still use that module today.

The library allows you to mix and match layers of sounds to create new unique instruments and everything is done right from the front panel.

There are no hidden menus or screens to go into, which makes it super fast to work with.

Quick Specs

So how does it sound?

Reel to Reel Tape RecorderIt sounds like a digital piano man!

Seriously, I’m familiar with this module from it’s use by many gospel and church musicians so I instantly recognized a lot of the sounds.

I also hear the sounds of many classic RnB tracks, so it definitely captures the digital piano and ep sound well.

I love that you can layer different instruments and mix their levels to create new tones.

In addition to the MKS sounds, they also threw in some other “classic” ep tones from a few other well known instruments like the KORG 01w and the Yamaha tx816

This really adds to the flexibility of the instrument,ย being able to play an ep, with some bells, and throw a little brass or synth on top is really cool.

So what’s the bottom line?

If you’re a gospel musician looking for a way to keep the sound of the mks 20 in the digital domain you definitely want to check this out.

If you’re a producer that loves the classic rnb sound of digital pianos then you also may want to check this out.

Finally if you’re just someone that enjoys a good instrument with instant tweak-ability and layering options, then check this out.

4andhalfsubsI give MKSensation 4.5 out of 5 subs, the interface is smart, simple, and easy to come up with new layered sounds

I really like the simplicity and usefulness of the interface and it’s fun to layer the sounds to come up with things you may not normally be able to do on the original module.

The sound of a classic with the flexibility of software gives you a powerful digital piano instrument if you’re into that particular sound.
