Big Fish Audio SWAGG library review and giveaway

44

Hey what’s good fam! It’s Friday so time for some more Big Fish!

Today I’m finally reviewing the new SWAGG library, the download version is available now.

I know people have been wanting to see and hear what this is about and have been asking me since January…so here we go

What is SWAGG?

swggThis is a brand new synthesizer library/workstation for Kontakt aimed towards RnB, Urban, and Pop music production.

It has a custom interface with fx and modulations geared towards helping you create the sounds and effects that are popular in these forms of music.

You have instant control over everything from custom reverb and modulation to a built in arp and stutter effects.

It also works in the free Kontakt 5 player so you don’t need to own the full version of Kontakt to use it.

Quick Specs

How does it sound?

Reel to Reel Tape RecorderAt the end of the day, this is all that really matters right?

This library has everything you need to make current Urban/Pop music production.

There are plenty of synth leads, lush pads, crazy modulated fx, and tons of deep bass.

They even put in some brass, guitars, keys, and smooth string patches as well.

One thing to note, there are no drums or percussion at all, I guess they figured everyone has their own drum libraries, so they focused only on melodic instrument sounds.

The overall feel of the library is synthetic so don’t come at it looking for rich organic sounds, while there are a few acoustic key sounds and some guitars, that isn’t the main focus of the library.

So what’s the bottom line?

One thing I notice about the sounds is that they really fit well into productions, many times when you get a synth the sounds can be too big or too busy to fit properly into most productions.

That’s something I get asked about a lot so this definitely caters to that crowd that wants a ton of great synth sounds that actually work in their productions without much tweaking and stripping down.

4andhalfsubsI give SWAGG 4.5 out of 5 subs, I think it’s an instantly usable library with tons of sounds and fx that works perfectly for the urban pop sound it’s aimed at.

I’m always getting asked “what library can I get for urban or pop music like what’s on the radio” well, usually my response is something like “you can use any synth to make the sounds you want, it just depends on the type of sounds”.

SWAGG is definitely a product that delivers the current sounds that many are using in Urban and Pop productions as well as a little EDM infusion which is also all over current RnB and Pop records.

The good thing is the sounds aren’t cheesy or stereotypical, they are just really good sounds that are ready to go.

Another thing I like is that the patches are small so it’s easy to audition and flip through them quickly.

If you’re looking for a modern workstation, this one definitely should get a hard look.

Go on over and checkout the demos on the site and see what types of styles can be created with this library:ย http://www.bigfishaudio.com/detail.html?515681

    • I’m not sure if they will be doing additional sounds for it or additional versions like different volumes, since Kontakt licensing is a bit different I don’t think they would be able actually sell “expansions” as NI would see them as new products so…we’ll see!

  4. Saintjoe,

I think you made a typo on your review. You said, “The good thing is the sounds are cheesy or stereotypical, they are just really good sounds that are ready to go.” I think you meant to say that the sounds are NOT cheesy or stereotypical? Anyhow, just an observation.

    Peace,
    Avess
