Best Service Forest Kingdom library review

26

Back with another one for you, especially if you like other wordly, sound design type sounds.

This time it’s not so much about synths and fx, but natural and acoustic instruments that have been effected and morphed.

I’m talking about Forest Kingdom from Best Service

So what is Forest Kingdom?

It is a collection of sounds designed to capture the sound of nature, forest, jungles, and the creatures that may live in them.

It’s not a collection of synth sounds, it’s a bunch of flutes, winds, percussion, soundscapes, birds, and other weird creatures.

It’s definitely something a bit different from the things I’m used to playing with…but that’s what got me interested!

I guess you could call it an ethnic library, but that doesn’t really tell the whole story.

Quick Specs

  • content: 7gb, over 200 patches
  • format: Best Service Engine player
  • price: $234.72

How does it sound?

Organic? Natural? Ambient? Earthy?

I suppose you could use all these words to describe it. It’s like none of the other libraries I’ve used.

I love ethnic flutes and percussions, strange soundscapes, etc….but these have a sound all to themselves.

There is definitely and ambience and natural sound to them.

My favorite part of the library besides the flutes would be the pads, I love the layers and how you can mix them to create your own sounds.

The recordings are superb, they really capture the feeling of the sounds and allow them to breathe.

So what’s the bottom line?

This is the first product I’ve ever used created by Eduardo Torilonte…but I’m definitely digging what I hear.

I just feel he has a style in his library that is very different from what I usually come across.  It has a very earthy, natural vibe to it.

I give this library 4.5 out of 5 subs, it’s really unique and diverse with great sounding instruments that are fun to play

I really suggest you go over to trysound and play it for yourself!  http://www.try-sound.com/index2.asp?plg=bs_fk&slng=en

If you are like me and you love to use different libraries and instruments that bring a totally new texture to your toolbox, this is worth consideration.

  1. This is so right up my alley totally feeling the sounds I was sold when I saw the word Celtic and title of the library!! Listening to you talk and describe how these sounds were ones that you would go for in the video reminded me of that conversation we had about our similar likes and this library reminds me of that!

    • @Hasznone, yeah, I know this isn’t something everyone will dig, but for me, it’s perfect. I love this type of stuff, I haven’t really came across anything like his style before, it’s really organic and “dreamy”. I’m looking forward to checking out his other libraries.

  4. SJ,There’s much to discover with this kit. Many of the sounds seems to provide that “downtempo/or cinematic” feel. I do like this…Thanks again for this review.
